I bought an extension for the 7-pin and the Anderson plug I use to charge my camper on Amazon. It was cheap fix and makes connecting the camper so much easier.
Did you worry about how small the flange was on the fixed side? It slips through the surround and doesn’t seem to have a lot of surface area on the inner part of the receiver.
Do you guys know anyone who has done a ride comparison between the 2024 and 2025? I’m wondering if the stiffer springs on the 25 would improve the towing experience. I’m on the suspension upgrade train, but I don’t want to do it until I figure out my full build and resulting weight.
Totally agree with your overall point. However, this thread was started because of an issue unrelated to harsh ride, body-on-frame construction or rough roads. The issue that some of us are having is a vibration at highway speeds that feels like very poorly balanced tires but can’t be...
Looking forward to your review. I’m
Considering the same bumpers and know I’ll need to upgrade the suspension to handle the weight (plus the @Airdowngearup drawer system and the tongue weight of our camper).
The outlet doesn’t have enough power to run a refrigerator, especially when it cycles on. I run mine off of the 12v socket (power cord running to the front) until I can run a dedicated circuit to the rear.
Great feedback, thank you. I hate to abandon the stock suspension but i bought the GX to tow our camper into the backcountry, so as you said, “what the hell.” We don’t get to take our money with us so we should do what makes us happy while we can. I’ve been talking to Dissent Offroad because...
Just to be clear, my GX is an Overtrail and is rated for over 9,000lbs. You might want to check the load rating on your tires, and make sure you’re not exceeding the GVWR for your Lux +. I towed our camper with a Tacoma with a 6,500lbs towing limit, but I added airbags and heavy duty leaf...
Bendou,
I tow a Kimberley Karavan that weighs approximately 5,000lbs when loaded. The only time I’ve had issues with swaying was when I had the hitch too high and it was extremely windy. I tried the Timbren “helper springs” that replace the bump stops. They were great on the highway, but I...
We tow an off-road camper that is similar in weight when fully loaded with gear and water. The GX tows it amazingly well, including on some tough 4x4 roads. I added Timbren SES bumpstop helper springs for a recent trip. They were great for the highway and smooth dirt roads, but they were pretty...
