Great feedback. I can live with quirks (although in this age of “analog is dead” and hyper accurate capabilities, it makes no sense that today’s programming code writers don’t do better work). I’m old enough to remember when used car dealers would run odometers backwards. Now people are spinning...
Adaptive cruise control, in conjunction with the other safety systems are quite nifty in stop and go traffic situations, such as traffic jams. With it engaged you can negotiate your way through with less stress. It will follow the vehicle ahead, moving when they move, and the self braking system...
On a recent road trip with my new GX550, I noticed that if I set cruise at a certain speed (e.g. 70 mph), the speedometer would display one mph slower (e.g. 69 mph). This occurred often, but not always. Always 1 mph slower, never faster. I realize that the point at which I press SET on cruise...
Yes. Once you get used to it, it’s a breeze. Right side, upper right button pressed once is adaptive cruise. Same button, a second press, and all distance control radar is disabled. Accelerate to desired speed, press upper left button to set it.
The center of this cluster adjusts speed up or...
I’ve owned my GX550 Luxury (not the Plus) for a couple months now. It’s a 2024, but it’s new and came with full warranty.
I’ve read most of the posts in this thread and some others. Having just returned from our first bonafide road trip, I thought I’d share my impressions—both good and bad...
I am old (68) and am in the middle of my first real road trip with the GX550 (Knoxville, TN to Las Vegas, NV). I agree that the QI charger does heat up my iPhone (in a case), but not dangerously. I place the phone on the charger as soon as we leave each morning fully charged. I use Apple CarPlay...
You may be right about crash testing being a factor in their design choices. I’ve driven Toyota products since 1988. All of them were truck frame builds, be they pickup or SUV, full or midsize. And none of them were the easiest on fuel economy compared to similar models of other brands.
What...
Well, today I got some real numbers I can report. Mine is a 2024 Luxury, but I think most variants have the V-6 twin turbo power plant.
We drove 560 miles today from Knoxville Tennessee to the Gulf Coast. In the month I’ve owned the vehicle, we only drove around town with very little highway...
Thank you!
I’ve driven truck-framed 4Runners, Tacomas, and Tundras since 1988 and they all came with mud flaps. So it goes without saying that I was a bit surprised when my GX didn’t come with them.
They put 4-wheel drive and a locking differential on it, yet decided it wouldn’t need mud flaps…
I’m very interested, but can this dealer tell me if these will also fit my 2024 Luxury (because although the running boards look very similar to mine, I don’t know if there are differences between Luxury and Premium that won’t allow the flaps to work).
I suppose I could just query them by...
I just bought a ‘24 GX550 Luxury. It is black with embedded metal flaking. But the color Lexus uses for it is Caviar.
It is beautiful. But I don’t know if that will help you…
Mine shows around 220. But, if it’s deriving that number from its “instant” calculator don’t put a lot of reliance on it. I don’t know how far back it reaches for the instant readout, but it’s probably fairly short term. I’ve only filled my new GX550 twice and all of my driving has been city...
I don’t know about specific coils. Mine is a 2024 with the Luxury package, which may not be as robust as the suspension on the off road models. Mine has the coil springs around the front shocks, but isn’t a true strut to my knowledge. Does the 2025 use a new suspension?
I have a 2014 Honda...
Not sure if this even applies here, but I traded a 2019 4-Runner for my 2024 GX550. I had two windshields cracked on my 4-Runner within the first two years of ownership. Then I had a leveling kit installed. After that only one tiny chip that never ran.
I am convinced that the couple of degrees...
It’s a 3.4 liter V6, which is barely over 207 cubic inches tasked with powering a large heavy SUV. The twin turbochargers give it its kick (quite well, actually). I’m no chemist, but with the job this little engine has, it makes sense to use a fuel that is a pure enough spirit to minimize...
