It's not just plastic. It's a precision molded piece of Japanese awesome. To call it a plastic cover shows a lack of appreciation for the engineering and love that goes into manufacturing it. Hence the $200.
Probably no correlation. I only run 93 octane in my GX and I change the oil every 3 - 5k miles. Much of my driving is shorter trips which contaminates the oil more quickly.
As someone that's calibrated engines, I would highly recommend against regularly using lower octane fuel. While it's true the ECU has ignition timing and boost tables to compensate for knock and other adverse conditions, you don't want to constantly rely on that to keep the engine safe. This is...
It's better in every way over stock. More torque everywhere. I have 93 octane where I live which enables you to run map 2.
GX has right at 5k miles on it which works out to ~3300 with JB4 installed. The JB4 has been flawless. I've used it on my other cars in the past so knew what to expect...
I wouldn't have a shop that doesn't know what they're doing work on your car. If you don't know how to disassemble / reassemble calipers, then I'd pay someone that knows how to do the work. If a year down the road you have an issue with the caliper, it would be tough to argue that the work that...
I imagine there's quite a bit of driveline loss with the GX. If a stock GX breaks 300 whp that'd be seriously impressive. I'd imagine it'll put down 280 - 290 whp assuming ~20% driveline loss. I'm sure someone will dyno one eventually. If there's ever an ECU tune available, you'll start seeing...
Because I've reviewed the logs and also had the folks at Burger Tuning review them. On average it's 4 psi over stock depending on load.
JB4 allows you to log a number of parameters to assess how the engine is running.
Yep they do. I’ve also been running their system on my Supra in tandem with an ECU tune for the past 4 years without issue.
It really does produce good results as long as you have enough octane. 93 octane is required / highly recommended for Map 2.
New GX550 OT+ with 1700ish miles on it. So far it's been great and a huge upgrade over the car it replaced.
Not planning to go too crazy with it since I like how it already sits from an exterior standpoint. Mods so far include:
Exterior and Interior:
Xpel PPF Wrap on Front Clip
Full Ceramic...
Given the offroad capability of the GX, there really wasn't anywhere else to place the battery outside of the vehicle that wouldn't subject it to the elements. Lexus could have completely reengineered the vehicle, but given the relatively lower sales number for the GX, wouldn't be the best...
