Up for sale I have a 2024 GX 550 Overtrail in Earth with approximately 6800 miles. I’m asking $78,500

Location: Grand Junction, CO

VIN# JTJTBCDX5R5016174

I freaking love this platform and ordered the exact one I wanted. By all accounts, I feel silly selling it, it’s an absolute dream to drive. I am lucky in that I get to spend a lot of time in the GX 550 platform via what I do for work, so I’ll still be active here and I’ll likely own another one in the future.

Included: I have a set of prototype Slee sliders for it, that I haven’t had time to install.

Lexus allowed me to custom order my dream package. I do a ton of work with them. This is as close to a ā€œpoverty packā€ (hahaha) Overtrail as you’ll likely find. It has a moon roof delete and is devoid of the advanced safety package (gaze detection warnings, etc., etc.). However, I selected one option – the Coolbox center console.

I should also say that I’d love to have some extra cash to help pay for a bigger shop. I have a 4WD business and I’ve decided that we probably don’t need this truck.

These trucks are crazy hard to price right now, I’m seeing them everywhere from $82K for Overtrail 550’s with similar milage to $90K+ for Overtrail+

Feel free to DM me with questions.

As of right now this vin is not part of the recall as it was a mid 2024 build.

Clean Colorado title in hand

Cheers!

Jackson

Nice!!but its over MSRP! Am i missing something, when i can buy a brand new at MSRP

Also will the sales tax be the same on a used private sale?

The removal of the driver monitor is interesting. I would guess that includes some of the more advanced self driving stuff (traffic jam assist) which I imagine is a win for some buyers as well as the lack of sunroof. Great spec for an overlander.

Sales tax will be calculated based on the sale price reported to the DMV.

I’ve always wished Lexus would sell a cheaper, stripped down version of the Overtrail for enthusiasts. Leave some of the creature comforts but remove a lot of the annoying tech, moonroof etc.

It will be assessed at the dmv, so you would pay it there when registering vs at the dealer.

it’s a package that on paper looks terrible to someone selling cars in a metro area. I’m sure that’s part of the reason you really don’t see a ton of moon roof deletes or plain Overtrails really. But it’s what I imagined would make the best overland rig. Just pulled it out of the garage and remembered how fun and nice it is to drive. I’m used to driving worn out 80 series Landcruisers with no caster haha.

Depends on your state. In AZ, there is no sales tax on the private sale of a car. Buy it from the dealer new or used, you pay sales tax. Pretty big savings, especially on a 80k, car, about 8k.

Nice! And good call, I had Colorado on the brain.

Firstly, congrats on the sale! Best days of a GX owner are the purchase, and the sale dates...

Secondly, the one you sold was not the stripped down model, correct? You've ordered another GX 550 with the deletes (moon-roof)?

Thirdly, can anyone approach Lexus for such an arrangement? How can one get Lexus to "allow" a special order such as this?

The one I sold was the stripped down package. It’s kind of a long story, but in essence Lexus corporate allowed my business partner and I to order exactly what we wanted. Like I said, sad day to see it go. I would call around to different regions and ask about what they are willing to order/allocate. I speculate that they are timid about doing things like no moonroof, because they are ā€œhard to sellā€ if the buyer decides to back out etc. Dealers are ultimately responsible for their markets and are independent of Lexus corporate on purpose. So if you’re not getting what you need locally, I suggest you try a different area.

And as proof of hard to sell, I had 3 people not read the add and back out of their offer once they realized it had no moon roof.

Thanks for the clarity!

I think moon-roof delete would be a popular option, as would the cool-box delete (more in-cab storage area). And I'll keep your suggestions in mind when ordering my next GX 550
