2024 GX550 Overtrail Right Rear C-Pillar Noise

Hi everyone,
I own a 2024 GX550 Overtrail and since around 2,000 miles I’ve had a persistent rattling/creaking noise from the right rear C-pillar.

• Hot weather: noise gets extremely loud.
• Cooler weather: still there but weaker.
• 80–90°F: almost disappears, but always comes back.

Dealer visits so far:

• First visit: I test-drove with the tech, we both heard it, they tried a fix but it didn’t solve it.
• Later visits: noise didn’t appear during inspection, making it impossible to capture. When it’s quiet, the car feels perfect — but often the same night on my way home, the noise returns. This has become mentally exhausting, as I’m always listening for it.
• Recently I booked a same-day appointment via the Lexus app right after hearing the noise, but the dealer refused, saying same-day isn’t allowed. If so, why does the app even show that option? And what if the noise disappears by the time of a scheduled appointment?

At this point I’m frustrated. The issue is real but intermittent, and service advisors sometimes make me feel like I’m being unreasonable.
Questions:

1. Has anyone else had the same C-pillar noise on a GX550 or LC250?
2. Any NYC owners with this issue?
3. Can anyone recommend a good service center in NYC where I can bring the car in immediately when the noise happens, instead of waiting for an appointment?

I have the exact same noise issue. Initially they blamed it on a loose dash cam wire that they (supposedly) secured, but it’s back and annoying as ever. I’ve seen other threads where they’ve mentioned something about layers of sheet metal tapping together as there’s no insulation at that junction where there are quite a few pieces meeting. Sorry I can’t offer more help and can only empathize!

Lemme mention something that just happened this week.

I have been dealing with the same issue since March. Lots of dealer visits and days without the car hasn’t yielded much in the way of a fix, however…

On Sunday, I began removing the roof rails in order to install my Gamiviti roof rack. It’s a super easy process to remove them, and Tim even has a video of the removal on his website Gamiviti.com. When I popped the first bolt cover off, on the passenger rear, where the noise was coming from, of the two bolts, the one closest to the rear bumper, was very loose. I went ahead and removed everything and prepped for the install on Monday. It did not occur to me until AFTER I got the rack on, that the noise was completely gone.

It is also worth mentioning that, in my frustration of desiring to fix the rig myself, I stopped at a headliner shop in town, to ask about removing mine so that I could diagnose for Lexus, that one of the installers mentioned that “a lot of times when we are asked about noise in that area, it has to do with oem roof rails being loose…blah blah blah”. On the way to work Tuesday morning, I realized all of the noise in completely gone and began putting the pieces together…

It could be part of the problem or it could be all of it or none of it. I think it’s worth checking into yourself.
