Thought I would post my thoughts on the GX 550 now that I've driven 500 miles:
1. Mileage is good (19-20 mpg) however I have a very light foot on the gas
2. Quality of build not as good as our 2016 GX460
3. Overkill on all the electronics, and IMO, is a distraction not an asset
4. No complaints on power
5. Transmission - Terrible! It is always shifting trying to find the right gear both up and down. Shifts rough and not smooth at all. Already been to the dealer and took the service manager and lead technician for a ride. Both claim it drives and shifts normal. This is unacceptable to me and I hope a TSB will eventually come out to address the issue.
6. Overall opinion is the ride is rougher than I expected and the seats are not as comfortable as I had hoped. Not real enjoyable to drive because of the transmission. If a person enjoys hot rodding around this is a great vehicle to own. My wife doesn't even want to drive it which is a bummer
7. Could be the shortest duration I have owned a vehicle. I will wait until I have a couple 1000 miles to make that decision
