CBI bumper received with tons of power coating damage.
First off, CBI was having a sale for free shipping on their bumpers when we ordered this, but it wouldn't show for this one. We emailed and messaged CBI, but didn't want to miss the sale so we placed the order. Finally got ahold of someone the next day and was told that it was a marketing mistake because this bumper couldn't be shipped in a box like others, had to go freight on a pallet. So we were stuck paying 350 for shipping. We had already ordered the sliders so we decided to roll with it. Then it shows up in a box regular FedEx, CBI ghosted me! Won't return calls or messages. I opened it up after a week of trying to connect with them, and there's powder coat damage on every piece. Is this acceptable for a nearly $3k bumper?! I don't want this thing to rust everywhere there's a chip. And a few of them are in plain view.

I should probably mention that the ghosting started way before this bumper. They shipped the wrong hardware with the sliders and as soon as realized that I was having to buy new hardware they stopped responding. My wife had to go back and forth with them over the course of a couple weeks to get any kind of reimbursement for the hardware cost. And it was a really good thing. I took pictures of the whole process otherwise they would have declined to even help. I was in a chat with their customer service and they just kept insisting that the hardware shipped was the correct hardware, even though it was M8 and I needed m10. The package even said T4R and gx550 lc250 written on the bag.

What should I do?
I'm filling a claim with CBI through their warranty.. I'm going to give them a chance to respond and make things right, but it's just to satisfy the credit card requirements at this point. I'm pretty over this company.

I'd be livid. As you said, those areas will rust as soon as water gets on them. Looks pretty thin as well. I got the same thing from CBI. I ordered their ditch light brackets. They didn't come with any rubber grommets as they should have. A couple days after emailing them, the response was... just go down the the hardware store and buy them. Exactly what I did because after that response, I didn't plan to use them again. Hope they step up and help you out! Victory 4X4 for what it's worth!

So CBI continues their poor customer service. I had read about their less than stellar service so didn’t bother with ordering anything from them.

I emailed them requesting the weight and physical dimensions of their sliders, but they never responded. Went with Dissent instead.

Shit customer service is unacceptable for something so expensive and difficult to ship.

You made a good decision. Dissent has much better customer service and better sliders as well.

Plaster this all over Facebook and you’ll get their attention. I’d demand a full refund on all that crap if this is the way they treat you. They fleeced you for an extra $350 with the bullshit pallet story for the bumper and then shipped it in a box. That’s the kind of bullshit that gets someone punched in the face.

I had them call me yesterday FYI, they are sending me a new bumper and refunding the shipping charges. Facebook got their attention pretty quick. I'm bummed that it took me doing this, but I feel like I was more than patient with them to make it right. Facebook was brutal, with most suggestions being charge backs and Some even sighting that It's off-road gear and it's going to get scratched so just deal with it.. my take is that if it gets scratched I'm going to be the one doing it.

Damn right.

They’ll either invest their own $$$ in stripping and re-coating that damaged bumper, or they’ll sell it discounted as a scratch & dent piece. In other words, it’s not worth full price because it’s damaged.

For the guys telling you it’s going to get damaged off road anyway….walk up to their trucks and run your keys down the side and see what they do when you say, “It’s going to get damaged off road anyway.”

100% this! And for the love of God it's going on $100,000 vehicle. It's not my old 2007 FJ. Even the FJ. I'm not trying to put dented up chipped shit on it.

Great thread and thanks for posting! I was going to get their front bumper. But not now. Victory 4x4 will be my choice now.
They have a lot going for them with the CBI bumper. And if they are going to make changes for the better, I don't necessarily see why the community should blackball them. Honestly if I could do it over again I would have just ordered it raw steel and done the powder coating once it arrived. Keep in mind that victory is not made in USA, I'm not sure what that means for steel quality.

Victory 4x4 did the same for my bumper with a hidden winch: sent me a bumper with scrathes in the paint, and then ghosted me. Had to have the bumper re-powder-coated locally.

+1 on hardware issues. I have their front bumper, side steps, rear bumper, rear swing kit and roof rack(prinsu). A lot of incorrect and/or miss matched hardware. They did however rectify this quickly for me, I'll give them that. I also did receive these a few months back when they didn't have any install videos or instructions, otherwise it would have saved me some time and headache if I had a hardware list to check before dismantling my GX. As far as powder coat damages during shipment... yes I had a few too, didn't really bother me.

I ordered that bumper from cbi in December with a promise date of march…called about the timeline three times only to be told it was going to be another nine weeks…as Joe Exotic says, ”not a fuck you, waddaya need or nothing!”

I won’t do business with them again.

Absolutely! It's not like it was purchased from a scratch and dent sale.

No way am I supporting an offshore manufacturer.
What? So, you don't own a GX 550?
