CD Player (1 Viewer)

If you want to play "cd music" you can record what you want at home onto a USB drive - then insert the USB drive into the GX and listen to your recordings. :)

Thanks for the tip. I checked on using a USB drive when I first get the GX and the owner's manual did not list it as an source option.

Just tried using a USB-A to USB-C adapter with a Samsung Flash Drive and all works great.

I can't believe this is a real question and not trolling. CD players started being phased out of cars starting all the way back in 2017. There is literally only one new car left that is built with one, and that is the Isuzu D-Max.

OP was living under a rock.

I was talking to a buddy last night about taking my OT in for a full stereo re-hab (replace & add speakers). Another thing on my list is a remote CD player, maybe stash one in the glove box? I’ve got about 250 CDs and very little patience for downloading/digital music stuff. Now get off my damn lawn!

I have no idea what Flac is.....sounds like something I need protection from.

I do use iheart radio and I have (or had) playlists on that.

I bought my son a small bookshelf stereo unit with AM/FM and a CD player (and of course bluetooth too). He's been going through all my CDs. I heard him rocking out to VH 1984's Panama the other night.

There's just something about listening to an entire album (or CD) that I enjoy. The CDs were always better than albums or tapes because you could immediately skip over a track you don't like. I wish I still had my old Zeppelin 8-tracks. I'd drop an 8-track player in the glove box and you'd all be jealous.

Now excuse me while I groan excessively as I get up out of my desk chair.

OK, this stuff is actually pretty cool. I've been looking at services that will rip all your CDs into digital format such as MP3 for the car and FLAC for eternal, lossless preservation. I didn't realize that hundreds or thousands of CDs could fit onto 1 little USB drive that I could plug in and listen to in my GX. At about a dollar or so per CD it's cheap, too.

Gotta run, Wheel of Fortune is on.

:ROFLMAO: I'd be surprised if the truck doesn't play FLAC natively. MP3 should be at 320 bit rate if needed and if done right it should show all your album art as well.

Then you can make your gal a "mixtape" like the good ol' days.

You naysayers need to do better research. My 2023 Subaru Outback came from the factory with a CD player installed. Has my copy of "Aqualung" in it right now. Gonna see if I can find "Panama".

I do want to know in advance how the music is stored on the USB drive and how it is displayed on the truck's infotainment system. I'd assume artists are listed alphabetically and then albums and tracks are subfolders. If all the tracks were just a continuous list of a million meaningless file names then it would be worthless.
