Perhaps this has been discussed before, but I'm new here and don't see a thread on it.

This is my first turbo engine in any car I've owned, and it's a twin turbo to boot. These, of course, run especially hot, and I live in Texas.

So are these engine covers retaining even more heat to exacerbate the heat issue even further? It seems like it could damage the engine to have these on during a long highway trip on a 100-degree day.

Thoughts?

The turbos (relatively small) are off to the sides of the engine. If I were to worry about something retaining the heat for the turbos (which i'm not), the hood would probably be more of an issue than the engine cover.

Good to know, thanks. I thought they were up top, but didn't look that close.

I'll be removing my hood today. 😆

If you were on a highway run or towing, best to let the engine idle a minute before shutting down to let some oil run through the turbo's.
Yes, I've had buddies with turbos, so I know to let the oil cool a bit before shutting it off. I'm also babying it quite a bit until I hit 2,000 miles. Already drained and filled the oil at 700.

I've had a long succession of V8 engines, so want to make sure I know the in-and-outs of every day care of these.
