I know this is very basic, but it's already made such a big difference to the temp inside the vehicle. This is my first time applying any kind of tint to the windshield. Although it looks quite dark from the outside, it isn't dark at all inside. Highly recommend!

My tint guys did 20% on the front side windows and it look exactly like the rears.

Stock rear glass is 22%. Did you only tint front? I tinted all rear glass 70% which effectively makes it 15.4% so I did 15% on the fronts to matchMy tint guys did 20% on the front side windows and it look exactly like the rears.
Yep, only did 20% on the front. You can't tell any difference between it and the 22% in the back.
Is it legal? Anybody knows what CA standards are?

Looks nice and I wish I could do that to my vehicles but I wouldn't get 5 miles down the road before getting stopped by law informant. That is illegal in RI.

I have 20% on fronts only. No windshield. In NY they are pretty picky about windshield tint. Not as much for the side windows. I would consider a super light ceramic tint on front windshield. But don’t want to deal with reduced visibility.
Happy with 70% on my front - it reduced both IR and UV.. (the second of which I can tell because my glasses don’t darken any more ).
Don't tint the windshield in CA. What you can do (and I've done on all my cars) is tint the front down to the AS1 line. You can do whatever you want above the AS1 line, but don't go too dark because you won't be able to see traffic lights. Anything below the AS1 line needs to be pretty much clear. It really helps me when driving with the sun in my eyes - I don't need to instantly flip the visors down.
However - tint and UV/IR protection are not the same thing! you can get a clear UV (fade) / IR (heat) films. I'm not sure if what they brand as clear is 100% clear or just thereabout, but clear film is legal everywhere afaik, and it reduces the heat just as well.
