Hood flutter on 26 OT. (1 Viewer)

I had a small hood flutter and took it to the dealer and they applied epoxy to resolve the problem. You would think with all the previous problems with this issue starting with the 24 GX, Lexus would have taken steps to correct this defect. Let's hope the engine recalls on early 24's will not surface with the newer models.

Yes it did. I had a 24 gx OT that they had did the same procedure and resolved the issue. In that case, the hood flutter was very bad. In my 26 OT, it was not as pronounced and the service manager knew how to resolve the issue. Good luck if you are trying to have it fixed. Make sure they keep the vehicle overnight to let the epoxy cure.

Another example of poor Toyota quality. I had a 2024 and they glued the hood with some foam strips and epoxy glue. The kind of materials you can buy at Home Depot. It helped but still fluttered in heavy winds.

I would have thought by 2026 they would have resolved this.

I put aluminum diamond plate on the hood of my 1987 Land Rover Defender. It also had an aluminum hood. After that, I could stand on it but not above 30 MPH!

Someone wrote that the GX 550 was Toyota's attempt to complete with Land Rover. On the quality aspect, they seem to be succeeding. A race to the bottom.

I got rid of mine after the "metal in the engine" recall.

I had a lot of flutter on my 24. And 85% less on my 26. Neither bothered me. Really - unless the hood is going to fail prematurely because of the flutter, why stress?

I just figured that a nearly 100k vehicle should not have such a driver distraction. I'm glad you are not bothered by the hood flutter: other GX owners felt like me. Our vehicle was having work performed by service and I mentioned it to the service manager and he took care of it.

My 2026 Luxury Plus has zero hood flutter. It was one of the first things I looked for on the initial test drive. Solid.
