Hood wind / bug deflector?

Anyone have any luck finding a hood wind / bug deflector yet? I see there is possibly one for JDM, but haven't seen one from AVS or WeatherTech yet. Already have a decent chip / dent in the hood, and was hoping it would help with the numerous windshield rock chips I've gotten in less than 5K miles as well.

Ohh I see. But damn that's pricey for the deflector. Do you remember how much was just the deflector?

Husky Liners say they have a hood deflector. I have reached out to them for an installed image. I will report back.

There aren't any models that claim to fit the GX550 on the Husky site. Can you send the specific product link?

I don't think there is a bullet proof solution for rocks but after replacing the windshield twice on my GX 460 I installed one from OMAC and never got a rock on it anymore. On my GX 550 I have the 3M chip protect and be aware that if you install a bug deflector on top of it, the warranty for the chip protect will be voided...

How has the hood bonnet worked for you? Does it help with bug splatters on the windshield? How about rock chips on the windshield? Thanks!

I ordered the Husky Hood Protector for the GX 550 and it arrived today. My initial reaction is I'm sending it back, but will give it a day or two to think about. What I didn't realize is that the "protector" is some type of rubber/polymer that is supposed to taped directly to the hood using double sided adhesive tape. My experience with these in the past on other vehicles is that while there may have been some tape involved, they sat off the hood a little bit and created a change in airflow hopefully lifting it a little to decrease, however small, the impact of debris on the vehicle. Pictures on websites (Husky and Amazon) are poor so I thought I would share

That's unfortunate. I had seen someone else posted about one a week or two ago on FB, but the pic they loaded was terrible and couldn't tell much. The AVS brand I had on my 5th gen 4Runner was great. Sat off the hood as you say and mounted on the underside via clips/bolts I believe. Had it on for 3 years and never any rock ships on the hood or windshield. Maybe just luck, but I thought it gave it an aggressive look too on top of at the very least protecting the very front of the hood. Seems ridiculous they won't sell the Lexus Australia one in the US.
