Had similar experience in the lc as well where the ac blows cold air for atleast 15 min without the ac button being on . I figured on the lc it has to do with the hybrid system / electric compressor but the ac system on the gx must be different. I don’t understand how this system works.

Is there a way to keep the AC turned on? I can’t figure that out. In South Louisiana where it’s hot and humid 80% of the year, I need the AC. It resets every time the car turns off.

HBush, when you say it "resets", what do you mean? My A/C is set to come on each time I crank the vehicle, with the temp in sync and set to 72 degrees. The only issue I have is the "S-Flow" switch which is found under the "Climate" tab just above the fan speed control. That switch, when turned on, puts into play the seat switches which causes air flow "changes". Please read on Page 415, Front seat concentrated airflow mode (S-FLOW). S-Flow NEEDS TO BE SWITCHED OFF. In my OT, S-FLOW off allows "normal" air flow to the front seats. If you turn off your engine for greater than an hour, the S-FLOW switch will be turned ON when you start the engine. Again, Read Page 415 of the Owner's Manual. I go for first service Aug. 4th, my priority will be to obtain assistance with Lexus and find out how to permanently turn S-Flow off.

Thanks for that info....I thought I had reviewed everything I could for the system looking to correct this setting. What I mean is that when I turn on my car, the system is blowing on whatever temp I have it on, but the A/C button is not on. I manually turn it on every time, but once I turn my car off, it also goes off. I'll check out the S-Flow. thanks.

S-Flow SUCKSSSS

Blue bar = AC on
Grey bar = AC off
No bar = could be on, could be off, depending on desired temp

If you want AC off, tap the AC button until the bar appears grey

but the blue doesn't stay on that setting when I turn the car off. I have to press it again every time I restart the car - is there a way to keep it on that setting?

To get to this Customized setting, go to Page 570 of the Owner's Manual and read up on "CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURES". They are found on the center display, look down the list of selectable items on the left side of the screen.

Select the GEAR symbol,
Go down the list to where the "car symbol" is - Touch the symbol and look for the "DRIVING ASSIST" setting, touch and then go down the list of customizable features.

In the "Owners' Manual, page 581, Section 8-2, Customization: Middle of the Page, "Automatic air conditioning system (P. 383).
Automatic air conditioning system ( P. 413), Under Function, look at the second block - "A/C auto switch operation *

The Default setting is "ON" - that causes the compressor to be placed in service when you "TOUCH" the "AUTO" position on the center console/screen. That should cause the compressor to work whenever you PRESS/TOUCH the Auto position.

If you want, like I do, to be able to run the A/C in the cooler temps of fall/winter/spring, WITHOUT the compressor running, I DISABLE the Default setting and turn this setting OFF.

If you want to run the COMPRESSOR every time you touch AUTO, then the DEFAULT selection should be your choice.

If you want to "tell" the car to turn on or off the compressor, then select OFF, the customized setting.

Hope this helps. We own "very difficult" cars - way over engineered.

Not sure what you mean by running the AC without the compressor.

I just mean that if you want to use the car ventilation in cooler temperature times, such as winter, you can set the car Settings so that when you Touch Auto, the system aligns/start up for ventilating the vehicle with ambient air and temperature can be controlled by turning the temperature control.
Touch Auto - puts the system inservice. Verify the A/C "blue bar" is NOT lit - If you set the A/C to "not" be in auto in the car settings. Turn the Temperature knob to the desired temperature. The "system" will modulate the fan speed and temperature to the Temperature setting.
When you desire cooling, then you can select Auto in the car settings for the A/C to come on when you touch "Auto".
OR, if you don't want the compressor to run, anytime you are in the car, all you have to do is "touch" the A/C and check the blue bar above the A/C touch point is off.
That might be the simplest thing. Touch AUTO, then check the A/C blue bar is on, if yes, and you don't want the compressor to run, then reach over and tap the A/C to TURN OFF the compressor.
If you want cooling, then leave the A/C blue bar lit.
