Is anyone else experiencing a vibration when stopped at a light or idling in drive?

I have a 2024 GX550 Luxury+ with under 3,000 miles and there is a constant low-frequency vibration whenever the engine is idling. It happens in drive, neutral, and park. You can feel it through the seat, steering wheel, and floor. If you place a water bottle anywhere in the cabin, you can clearly see the water rippling. It feels like the whole vehicle is being gently shaken.

This has been happening since the vehicle had zero miles. I’ve only used premium fuel since day one, so it’s not a fuel quality issue.

It literally feels like the truck is going to stall. Like it needs a tune-up or the air and fuel mixture in a carburetor is off — even though that’s not something you can adjust on modern engines. But that gives you an idea of how rough it feels. Honestly, it reminds me of a 1990 Dodge Ram with 175,000 miles, not a $90,000 luxury SUV.

For comparison, my 2020 Dodge Durango V6 with 80,000 miles does not do this at all. It even has an automatic stop-start system at stop lights and still manages to stay smooth with no vibrations and no stall-like behavior.

I’ve brought it to the Lexus dealer multiple times but they claim it's normal. I also had it inspected by a Lexus/Toyota specialist who confirmed the issue and recommended I return to the dealer.

Here is a video showing the idle fluctuation at the stop light:

Would appreciate hearing from others with the same issue or if anyone has heard back from Lexus about it.

Mine has a slight vibration at idle. To me, it feels like track cars I've had with very stiff motor mounts.

Your RPM looks very stable. The periodic kick-up by 1-200 rpm is most likely the AC compressor cycling on and off. Almost all cars do that, but you are likely noticing it because of the idle vibration.

I have a 2024 Luxury and noticed vibration at idle right away after purchase. (Bought it new back in April, but it is last year’s model)
Anything you can feel in the seat of your pants is worthy of noting. I looked at the tachometer and RPMs are in the 600-650 range at idle. Every vehicle I’ve owned, including my current Porsche and Honda UTV idle in the 700-750 RPM range. Barely touching the throttle pedal eliminates all vibration.
I’m no mechanic but I believe a quarter turn on the idling screw would eliminate this issue.
However, after telling the service department about it at my first service last month, it came back with no changes made. Either they ignored my request, forgot to include it in the instructions, or this issue cannot be solved with a simple screw turn. If the computer controls idle speed, reprogramming might be required. I just don’t know. They may set it low to meet some MPG goal. I believe that was the driving force behind placing a small displacement V-6 with twin turbochargers in a full-sized vehicle in the first place (that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong…)
If any of you know where the idle screw is located and know it won’t cause any adverse issues to adjust, please share. I’d give it a try.
I hate vibration in a vehicle of any kind. As a kid, while others were clothes pinning playing cards to flap on the spokes of their bikes, I was oiling everything; trying to run as silently as possible… That’s my two cents worth on this subject. Peace.

Mine does the same thing. I wish this thing had auto stop stars to solve the idle issue as well as increase mpg

Unfortunately, I could not hear the video so the following may not be relevant.

However, my 2024 Lux + has a vibration coming through the console from the engine. At times its sounds as if the entire dashboard is rattling but the concentration is between say the engine and the shift stick. I hear it mostly after a cold start idle and during a slow reverse thereafter.

I believe the following to be the issue: The heat/sound shield overlaying the motor is not secured tightly. It may even rest against the hood nearest to the window and console. The loose shield is vibrating. In my case when the engine is cold and vibrating the most the loose shield vibration is at its loudest.

IF your issue sounds the same, open the hood and firmly tap the sound shield nearest to the windshield. You can practically replicate the vibration. A rubber shim or fastener would probably solve for this but I image Lexus will have a more permanent solution in the long run. I relayed all of this to the dealer and Lexus USA. I hope this helps.

Mine does the exact same thing. Dealer say they can feel it too so I left it there for them to check. It's been a week already : (

We had our brakes fixed and an oil change. We hadn't noticed any rpm problems but now it fluctuates. On one occasion, it went down to 400 rpm several times and almost died. We have a new rental and they are looking at it.

Anyone have an update? Only a month in on ownership and my OT+ has been rough idling at least half the time (mostly felt through the seat). Plan to bring it in soon.

I just off the phone with Lexus Corporate about 45 minutes ago. I was told that my dealership told them that the GX550 OT+ was built to vibrate. I was also told by corporate if i didn’t agree to take my GX550 to another dealer.

I asked that they send someone from Lexus to inspect my GX550 they told me Lexus does not do that, and then she said that she would check.

So, i am forced to report my problem to the National Highway Safety Administration.

The dealer said they had a Lexus technician to do the inspection on my GX550 Lux+. He compared it with a few other GX550s and the answer was "Normal". But actually it feels like getting a little better as I drive it more. Or I'm just getting used to it.

I met with a Lexus engineer on yesterday and he said that the vibration/reverb is the characteristic of the GX550 OT/OT +. He said the ride isn’t great, because the OT was built for off road use. Also he said the transmission is setup to shift faster than normal, because of government regulations regarding pollution and gas milage.
