This is my new 3D printed phone charging mount for our 550s. It looks really sharp and uses the 12v charger, leaving both USB-C ports still available.

I’m including an oem charging cable ($40) and 12v adapter ($17), and selling the kit on etsy.

Hi @Laxal550OT+ . I've got so much of my last year poured into this project, afraid i'm going to keep it for sale for a while. If that dies down, then i may make the plans free for the community. Hope you can understand.

Do you think the 3D-printed plastic would take well to a little light sanding and a coat of primer followed by flat or gloss black paint?

Hey @Bluegill. I imagine so. I had a couple come off the printer that didn’t pass QC a few days ago that I can dig out of the trash. I’ll give this a shot today and let you know.

Cool, I just noticed that you're local Phx. Maybe we can meet up and I can pay you cash? I'll sand one down a bit, prime, and paint - I actually look forward to messing around with it. I'm just curious if you think the plastic that is used to make the product will take to paint (I don't see why not but I'm not too familiar with 3D printing).

Ok, so sanded, spray primed and spray painted with a black rustoleum 'satin protective enamel'. Here's the comp, showing lighting from all four corners.

Super clean! I noticed on your etsy shop, the only option includes a MagSafe charger. I already own the charger and thus would be interested in the mount only, is there any way to do that?

the tolerances are very tight to apple's magsafe 1M charger with fabric wrapped cable. The older rubber wrapped cable has a disc that's too thick, and there's not enough room under the wedge to stuff 2m worth of cable. So if you have the 1m woven cable, you can hit the 'request custom order' on the etsy shop page (https://www.etsy.com/shop/FilamentAndBurl) and specify whether you need the flush mount 12v charger, and i can take care of you from there.

Used mine for the first time today. Much cleaner setup than the other options. Appears as it’s completely cordless.
