Navigation day mode at night

In setting my Nav is set to auto adjust day/night modes but it stays in day mode after dark. If I change settings manually or turn the truck off and on a few times it goes to night mode

I've always been using my Android auto in the truck but once I forgot my phone and experienced this exact issue.
Freaking screen was so bright and blinding in pitch darkness.

I'm pretty sire I read in the manual that the screen auto day/night won't work if you are also using automatic headlights.
