Texas
Greetings from Texas (yes, another one of us). Long-time Lexus admirer, First-time buyer. Unless you include the Toyota-badged Avalon! It's time for me to replace the family hauler after 15 years. I no longer need to haul a family but we've gotten used to the comfort of a larger SUV. I'm a huge fan of the Toyota reliability and old enough now to appreciate and afford the comfort of their luxury level. Hoping to find a GX in the next 3 months with the right color combination and not a lot of unnecessary add-ons that will never be used.

Welcome to the forum and happy hunting. Did you put a deposit down anywhere?

I have not. I don't relish the idea of having to pay MSRP or to order a car and wait 6-8 weeks. With the 2026 models dropping (presumably) in the next 8-12 weeks, I have to decide if it's worth it to order a '25 at full price vs a '26 or to wait until Lexus decides to lower the price on the remaining '25 inventory.

Any recommendations on dealers in the Southwest?

I used Westside Lexus in Houston.

I suggest finding the Facebook page where dealers from around the country are posting unallocated GX's for sale. I aslo had luck reaching out to various dealers with inquiries. Withing a couple of weks I had about 5 GX's to pick from. Ended up going with our original dealer because they had the exact car we wanted.

I don't see dealers selling below MSRP this year, just my guess.

Thanks. When we went to the dealership yesterday, they had none on the lot, didn't know when their next allocation would be available, and the salesperson told my wife that it would take 6-8 months to order one.

On top of that, the salesperson was constantly looking at her phone and totally disinterested in our conversation.

Seems like Lexus doesn't want to sell cars or at least this model.

All of the GX's are a sure sale due to the demand and are sold by allocation right now. Knowing that, the salesperson probably lost interest when you told them that you weren't willing to put a deposit in on an allocation.

Try checking out this Facebook group, Log into Facebook. Let them know what you are looking for and someone will get back to you.

Welcome to the forum. If it helps I had to go to several dealerships and place deposits, which are fully refundable, to get one. There were 90+ people in line behind me to buy one if I didn't like the terms. So what I'm saying is there was not a lot of leverage to negotiate and I really wanted one. All in all that's how I got one and I'm real happy i did. Good luck

I also went the wider net route. I had a deposit at my local dealer (refundable) with no ETA on an allocation so just pulled up a map of all the Lexus dealers in a 3 state radius and started hitting their websites. When I would find something close to what I wanted I would hit the chat box at the bottom and find out if the truck actually existed and wasn't already spoken for. After an hour or three I found something close to what I wanted that had no buyer lined up so did a one way rental and picked it up the following weekend.

Way to go. A little ingenuity goes a long way when one is determined!

I think you are spot on in that there is a demand problem that I didn't fully appreciate until I tried to buy bought one. I had wired the dealer a deposit and planned to come up in a couple days, but then had something come up that might have pushed it back a week. I texted my salesperson and she said they "couldn't hold a GX for a week" implying that if I delayed I would not be able to buy the truck. Luckily my schedule worked out and I wired the remainder and drove up on schedule, but I was really surprised they wouldn't even keep a paid for truck sitting around for an extra week waiting for me to pick it up. Given that and what I have read on this forum I feel lucky to have only paid MSRP.

I put a refundable deposit on OT+ at my dealer last week and expected to wait for 6 months, but got a delivery date of 7/19-8/8. Sale is at MSRP with no dealer markup or dealer-installed options.
I am in Los Angeles area.

I use Westside Lexus in Houston and put my deposit down in October 2024. At the time they said it would be 5 months. It has now been 8 months and still waiting.
