No Driver Monitor!! (1 Viewer)

Back in April I put my deposit down on an OT+ Incognito. I asked for no cool box, No Heads Up Display, and No Traffic Jam Assist.
I only wanted the ML Sound system, Black Emblems, Digital Key.
Surprised they were able to Order get one allocated without the items requested and only added Key Gloves & Ball Mount.

I Picked up the GX today it looks amazing.
But I was very surprised that it didn't have the Driver Monitor. No Camera looking at my face.
I was shocked but seems that is part of the Traffic Jam Assist which seems like maybe 99% of the GX's come with..

Was thinking since I don't have that am I missing any other features? Since TJA was only good for 3 years what happens after that if not payed?

Interesting, I have never seen a GX550 without the driver monitor or HUD.
Could you please post a picture of the steering column without the driver monitor and the top of the dash above instrument panel. I'm very interested to see how they look.

Awesome... That's what it sounds like it's a pain..
I knew I wasn't getting TJA (I never really use Cruise Control) and it seems like It only meant for low speed Cruise control and something I wouldn't end up buying after the Trial (Old Jeep kept for 15 years) so this will be hopefully close to the same.
But didn't think that removed Driver Monitor... But I guess it does...

I’d give just about anything to not have the driver monitor. It aggravates me so much I nearly traded the car in over it. Consider it a blessing!!

You can disable it so it doesn’t bug you or nag you. The most mine does is just a message without any chime saying “driver monitor unavailable” if my arm is blocking it.

The driver monitor thing sucks. I hate it too. I wish I could get rid of it. My eyes are always being drawn to that stupid message popping up in the middle of my digital display. It pops up 100 times per day. I turned off the chime on the first day but it's still distracting. I could also do without HUD - I'd prefer the extra flat dash space.

And if you’re cool with putting some black electrical tape or similar over the camera, you’ll get rid of the silent pop up as well, at least with shorter trips for sure.

Im always baffled that turning OFF Suggestions doesn’t remove all these annoying silent alerts. Parking Assist Disabled & Driver Monitor Alert are unbearable and pop up every time I drive.

I’m going in for my 5k service soon and I’m tempted to ask them to look at mine. The tech specialist at delivery asked if I wanted this turned off (I said yes). And I’ve never once gotten an audible or visual message alert. I don’t understand why, but I definitely don’t want them to “fix” it.

I've never used traffic jam assist. I'll have to play with that tomorrow.

Yes, you turn off the chime in one of the settings menus like bruesjoh04 notes above.

I tried covering the Eyes of Sauron with black electrical tape and the truck didn't like it. The silent pop-up warning came on and stayed on after about a half hour.

I have looked through multiple pictures on line of the GX 550 dash. I am seeing multiple with the driver monitor cameras and many without. Is there a particular option that includes it and another option that does not?

Traffic Jam Assist. That option comes with the monitor. If you don’t have that option, you don’t have the monitor.

I finally used Traffic Jam Assist just the other day. I was always searching for a menu item called "Traffic Jam Assist" but there isn't one...you just have to be under about 25 MPH and hit adaptive cruise control and lane tracking and TJA automatically comes on. It's actually pretty convenient. But I'd trade TJA for no driver monitor if I had the chance.
