Lexus update

It’s been one year since I took delivery of my(Caviar) Premium Plus. I wanted a three-row SUV, so the OverTrail was out, and I did not want 22-inch wheels, so the Luxury was also out. If everyone remembers, options were limited and came built into the price.
My build included:
Head-up display
Digital Key
Tonneau Cover
Cold air Package
Head lap cleaner and Windshield de-
Traffic Jam Assist
All-Weather Floor liners
Cargo Net
Key glove.
Adding approximately $2600 to my build.
I paid sticker price Park Place Lexus…very fair considering many dealerships were adding premiums. I also have a great relationship with my service tech Greg D., he is very capable and knowledgeable. I've read many comments about lousy service experiences not so at Park Place Lexus, Grapevine Texas.
Late 2023/early 2024 I was running out of patience with the delays and looked into purchasing a Defender. Just prior I decided to stop by my Lexus dealership; my salesman assured me I would be one of the first in line once they were available. In retrospect, should I have gone with the Defender (beautiful SUV) and/or any other regrets… NO! I love the drive, stability, power, updated technology and safety of the new GX.
I’ve received many compliments from strangers and my friends who have ridden with me love the ride and look.
I knew there would be a few “bugs,” and they have been minor and fixed by my dealership. The squeaky brakes while backing up were fixed early on. My gas gauge indicates 333 miles available when full. My hood has a slight wobble at higher speeds but minor at best. I do like the improved view while driving much better than my previous GX. The transmission response is excellent and the brakes are a huge improvement.

I also changed my oil at 1K and 5K. I have approximately 9800 miles and am going in for my first full service.

The Premium Plus is the complete package for my needs and I highly recommend it! Yes, there can always be something improved however this updated version of the GX is fantastic... To be honest I love driving it!

I agree. Our 2025 Atomic Silver Premium + arrived this past March. Could not ask for a better vehicle. Our dealer in Macon Ga has bent over backwards to help us including the service department. We are beginning to get comfortable with all the new tech. Only issue that I have which is minor and expected since we came from a 4 runner is the bug spatter. We knew it would be a bug magnet and it is. MPG is now averaging between 19 and 22. Last fill up gave a range of 366 miles. Overall we are both happy with our choice.

What mode do you normally drive, ECO or Normal. I have been driving our Premium + in Normal for a couple months and averaged 17 - 20. I just started driving in ECO May 1st and will see after a month what we get for mileage readings.

Great to hear you are enjoying your GX as much as I am!

Great feedback. I see that Consumer Reports did not have a high rating for the GX.

Wind noise

"Wind noise intrudes heavily on the highway, as the blocky SUV punches through the air."

My previous daily driver was a Jeep Gladiator, so the GX is a remarkable improvement on the wind noise, but this vehicle shares the same aerodynamic design as the Jeep; "a brick wall driving down the road given the gas mileage.

and drive

"Although the ride initially feels absorbent, on even slightly rough roads the GX becomes unsettled, jiggly, and tends to rock occupants back and forth. Even on a smooth highway with no apparent or regular bumps, you can still feel the GX moving around quite a bit."

Once again, an improvement over the Gladiator and the ride is fine for me but it handles like an obese Lazy Boy chair!

I had my hood wobble repaired under warranty. Not perfect but acceptable.

I say the GX has "character". Mine is white and looks like a Storm Trooper. I like it but can't say I "love" it. The last car I loved was my 1985 Porsche Carrera.

Re the Defender. Agree it is beautiful but a pile of junk. I preferred my 1987 Defender. It was a pile of junk I could fix myself and had character. The new Defenders and for that matter all Land Rovers have become pretentious status symbols. Nothing wrong with a status symbol but not when they are junk.

Hi does the premium plus have the cameras where if you slow down the 360 camera shows car and surroundings and also when parking to see through the car and parking lines?

Yes there is a setting to permanently set your 360 degree camera to come on when you slow down or stop. However it interferes with your phone if you are in the process of calling someone. So I just use the button (near your right leg) when I want to utilize the camera while stopped or slowly moving forward…my choice.
