I have a 2025 RX350 and I am considering moving to the GX550. I am debating between the Premium Plus and the Overtrail. I like the P+ luxury features but I wonder about how the E-KDSS contributes to on-road ride quality with the Overtrail: does it make a significant difference? I do not anticipate that I would need it for off-road capability. Thoughts?

I test drove a Premium Plus before ultimately purchasing an Overtrail+, and I don't recall a significant difference in body roll between the two. If you are unlikely to go off-road where wheel articulation will really matter, I don't think you should consider the OT for E-KDSS.

E-KDSS is great for off-road articulation but on the road the difference is pretty subtle. Most people find the Overtrail still rides well but if you are focused on comfort and luxury features and do not plan to off-road much, the Premium Plus is probably the better fit.

I doubt it would make a significant difference on road. I have a Lux+, which I believe has the same sway bars as the Premiums, and I think the sway bar is already pretty significantly stiff, leading to some uncomfortable head bobble & sway when going over speed bumps and ruts at an angle.

I'd feel comfortable saying the Premiums probably handle just as well on the road, if not better. The only thing you'd be missing is the reduced head bobble at parking lot speeds, as I mentioned.

During this recent snow storm, when I had it in 'normal' or whatever drive mode, I had difficulty maintaining intended straight line and/or simply driving out of 8+" packed snow/ice. Then just for sh#ts and giggles, I used the deep snow mode of MTS. Significant improvement..! Confidence inspiring to a point where I am interested to determine traction envelope.

I am just about to ask which model and tire you are using? Then I realized only OT/+ have MTS....I drove on packed snow in Normal mode and felt mostly fine. Engage the centre diff lock made it felt more sure-footed. I did test the MTS once after heavy snow and made me almost feel invincible (I certainly know the danger of driving out of the conditions and I drove slowly even with MTS engaged). I am pretty sure the condition is still within the vehicle's capability and would like to try out again if the weather will allow.

E-KDSS vs normal sways isn’t that noticeable on road. The bigger differences will be the adaptive dampers and 18” wheels on the OT vs the normal dampers and 20” wheels on the Premium trim.
