HELLO TO Y´ALL
ITS BEEN AROUND 7 DAYS OF FULL OWNERSHIP OF A 2026 GX550 OVERTRAIL HERE IN PANAMA AND I AM VERY VERY CURIOUS IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME IN YOUR OVERTRAIL.
I HAVE A 2022 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER PRADO 150 SERIES + KDSS. NO ADAPTIVE DAMPERS NO REAR AIR SUSPENSION.
THAT GUYS HAS BEEN WITH ME AFTER I SOLD MY 2019 LEXUS NX300 FSPORT, THAT CHANGE FROM UNIBODY CROSSOVER TO A BOF TOYOTA WAS NOT EASY. GETTING USED TO SOMETIMES BUMPY RIDE, JITTERYNESS WHEN STREETS ARE BAD MORE TIRE NOISE, A LOT OF DIESEL ENGINE NOISE, THING IS LITTLE BY LITTLE I STARTED FALLING IN LOVE WITH HOW MY SUSPENSION WORKS, I COULD EAT SPEED BUMPS BETWEEN 30 A 35 MPG WITH LITTLE DRAMA AND GREAT CONTROL. THOSE SITUATIONS WOULD SHOW THE PLUSHNESS OF THE SUSPENSION. OEM SHOCK ARE TWIN TUBE FOR WHAT IVE SEEN AND FEEL LIKE A DIGRESSIVE VALVING CAUSE I FEEL EVERYTHING , THE BIG JUMPS COME AND THOSE DISSAPEAR.
THEN THE J250 SERIES APPEARED, BRINGING A BIGGER AND STRONGER FRAM.
AVS
THE EVOLVED KDSS FOR NOW CALLED e-KDSS.
SUSPENSION TRAVEL AS LONG AS PREVIOUS J200 SERIES PLATFORM.
I EXPECTED A BETTER RIDE QUALITY, IF ANYONE HERE HAS DRIVEN A PREVIOUS LX570 OR A 200 SERIES LAND CRUISER, YOU WILL FEEL HOW CAR LIKE THE RIDE IS, YES SOMETIMES THE SHIMMY AND SHAKE APPEARS BUT THE PLUSHNES ON THE RIDE ZONE Y VERY APARENT.
I DONT KNOW IF THERE IS SOMETHING WITH THIS NEW PLATFORM OR I AM EXTREMELY PICKY WITH VIBRATIONS.
I DROVE A J300 SERIES LAND CRUISER SAHRA ZX AND ALSO AN LX600 LUXURY. THEY ALL SHARE A BUSY RIDE IN ALL THE MODES NO MATTER IF ITS COMFORT OR NORMAL, OR SPORT.
I KNOW BOF WILL SHAKE, VIBRATE ITS EXPECTED FOR SOMETHIGN THAT RIGID, BUT MY PRADO DOESNT HAVE A BUSY RIDE, IT HAS A BUMPY RIDE.
NO MATTER WHAT TIRE PRESSURES ARE IN COLD, IM RUNNING 33PSI.
COMFORT MODE
AND THE GX550 FEELS BUSSY ALL THE TIME EXCEPT FOR PERFECT PAVEMENT.
ALSO IT FEELS LIKE THE REAR SUSPENSION IS TO STIFF AFTER SPEED BUMPS, LKE THE VALVING IS NOT EXPECTING THAT MUCH COMPRESSION TO BALANCE THE RIDE AND KINDA CRASHED AND GIVING BACK A BUMP?
MAYBE ITS JUST ME.
I KNOW ITS SO REFINED , VERY LITTLE WIND NOISE, ALMOST NO TIRE NOISE, YOU CAN HEAR YOUR THOUGHS BUT FOR ME THOSE VIBRATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
THERE WAS ONE OWNER HERE THAT CHANGED THE AVS FOR OME MT64´S

I WANTED TO DO THIS POST TO HERE AND READ FROM OTHER OWNERS IF ITS ONLY MY EXPERIENCE

Lots of comments on this forum concerning ride quality.

My '24 OT+ rides great at speeds under 50.

Over 50 ( on the highways) the ride is not good. Can feel every bump and expansion joint. I would describe
the overall ride quality as 'rough'. Tracks poorly as well. Constantly have to hold the wheel to keep in the center of the lane.

I have 6 vehicles - 4 are body on frame and the Lexus is by far the most jarring ride. And one of them is a 1/2 ton Chevy 4x4 in a low trim level - a truck known for a rough ride.

Thanks for the reply and yes you mentioned a very interesting point.
At higher speeds everything settles exactly over 80 kph ( 50 mph) for you.
Funny thing at home no one cares at all. they love the plushness around the jarring ride.

I saw savageese on youtube where they changed the oem toyo to Dueller at ascent.
I had in my prado before those At3 from toyo and i did remmember a very harsh ride quality.
enought for me to sell those tires.

I had some issues and some had solved.
Best to make sure those tires are balanced, then retorqued properly.

lexus had torqued by lug nuts >100 ftlbs and it was causing so much vibrations above 65 mph. Had it lifted, took off tires to inspect, place tires back down, hand tighten nuts then lowered the car and retorqued to specs. Much better.

It's interesting that I find my 24 Prem set up the same way as my 26 ot+ had a smoother ride. I still only 300 miles on 26 so will see but that was my first reaction. I also have a funny popping at times in the front end. Not always there. Need to see if something needs adjusting on it. Just a rattle over some rough patches at slow speeds but not consistent.

1) Set PSI to 33-35 cold
2) Make sure lugs are torqued properly
3) ROAD FORCE BALANCE
4) Lower expectations

Interesting statement. Owning a previous Gen J150 seires prado with non adaptive dampers and kdss already gave me a truck like ride.
I´ve already set my tires to 33psi cold
havent check the lugs and tires are balanced from factory.
Expectations weren´t high cause i drove the lx600 back too back the gx550 and not much of a difference was noticeble.
Thing is, roads here in Panama are very different than what you see around the world.
I dont get this suspension honestly.
Sometimes is extremly plus and its irons out vibrations and sometimes if just fills jittery all the time, where is the 650 times per second this dampers changee?
The prado rides better over all.

Best way I can say it is “this truck eats up shitty roads but is no match for decent ones”. Its baffling

But thats what i wanted to say, mine doesn´t eat shitty road, as a matter of fact i feels horrible, but horrible on bad rought country road. i actually tested it back to back to my 150 prado.... with woops and everything i coould sustant 50 to 55 mph on the prado stock suspension. never top nor buttom and this gx couldn t control the suspension movement crashing most i could keep was 40 mph and was suffering.
on bad streets i feel everything, for real i am starting to think mine has something wrong with the suspension.
BOF will never iron out continious vibrations as UNIbody , nor should be plus. but this guys feels worse than my rudimentary Prado

We have a Lux+ and the ride can be very jittery compared to my Sequoia. I have chalked it up to the 22 inch wheels. Ride quality is my only complaint.
