Any members here do the Rigd Tire Carrier install on their GX550?
How did it go? Does it make the sensors go bad?

I placed an order for one late September so it is a waiting game at the moment. The lead time is supposedly 4 weeks so we'll see if it pans out.

My main reason is to clear that area for an auxiliary fuel tank. If that plan doesn't work out the Rigd carrier would allow me to carry additional fuel via Wavian jerry can and Rotopax.

Another reason is the accessibility of the spare tire on a tire carrier vs underneath. Accessing the spare underneath while offroad is no easy task.

While I'm not suggesting you do this, I've carried high quality Wavian cans inside without concern, in all kinds of weather. As long as the seals are in good shape and the safety pin was in place, we felt comfortable storing the can inside and have done so for probably 15,000+ miles of adventures. I'd also be a bit concerned about the fuel can taking a direct hit on rocky terrain.

I would store the cans inside if there were any room but alas, my internal space is fully occupied with drawer system, batteries, and gear.

I had that carrier on my 5th gen 4Runner and now on my GX. Worked great on both vehicles. I also have the extension and table. It gets a bit heavy to remove and install but other than that I’ve had zero issues with it. No rattles, no screws have backed out. I used the OEM wheel on a narrower 35 and had to use two spacers for it to fit on their adapter.

Are you able to see the rear with the 360 camera? I understand that the view may be distorted but something is better than nothing.

Not really. You get a black stripe where the camera is blocked. It doesn’t affect the rest of the 360 view.

Thank you for confirming. This will have to do short of relocating the camera.
