Sport S (+) Mode Throttle Sound Effect?

I've heard chatter about some newer car models incorporating a throttle "sound effect" during acceleration. I noticed a more pronounced throaty sound when in Sport S & Sport S+ modes. Does anyone know if this is the actual sound of the boosted Sport mode acceleration or is there any truth to an artificial throttle sound effect? If so, any insights as to how it works? I typically don't use the Sport modes but had to ask as the difference throttle sound was noticeable.

It's fake engine noise played through the speakers. Some like it, some don't, some don't care much either way. If it bothers you ask your dealer to turn off the fake engine noise when you take it in for your 6 months / 5k mile service and they'll do it.

I enjoy it! You can also set a custom drive mode with stiffer suspension and normal throttle mapping. That helps on the twisties driving normal I've found. Others have there own preferences. I believe another member commented on having it turned off as well.

Thanks all. I don't mind the extra layer of pseudo-bad-assery. Just didn't know if it was real or fake.
And yes, I have my Custom Mode set to Normal & Sport.
