Sunroof with roof rack (1 Viewer)

Help me understand the ‘Loss of Headroom”, please? Please understand I dont have my truck yet, so I am really just trying to understand how a roof rack impacts headroom? P.S. I am 5’8” so not really a concern.

My boys are 6’5” and 6’3” and have no issue in my OT back seat. Also confused by the roof rack question as it has no impact on interior headroom. I have the Sherpa roof rack and a cross bar currently limits the pop up ability of the sunroof but that is easily fixed by moving the cross bar. For me personally, I rarely use the sun roof and when I do, I simply retract it backwards which is not impacted by the roof rack.

I have a GX550 overtrail without a sunroof I am gonna replace that truck and it’s very hard to find one without a sunroof so I might have to settle for a sunroof … the sunroof takes away head room mostly in the back seat. Nothing to do with roof rack but I have a roof rack and hear zero noise wonder what it’s like with a sunroof if I have to go that route

Ah, OP’s question wasn’t clear. My comment is unchanged that my two adult sons at 6’3” and 6’5” have no issues with head room in the back seat. As for the noise w/ vs wo/ sunroof is not something I can comment on having no experience without a sunroof on the OT. Frankly the whole truck is noisy as it is basically a rolling brick. The side mirrors alone are very noisy.

Yeah I’m gonna go with an over trail plus just to get the acoustic glass this time and will try and get one without a sunroof … but helpful info about your sons height if you get a chance send me a photo of the inside ceiling from sunroof to backseat side curious about the dip I think I read 2 inches lower from without sunroof

OK, as stated I don't have my OT+ yet, but I had a 2020 Land Cruiser with roof rack and sunroof. You can hear the wind on the roof rack witht he galss exposed, but if you close the curtain it is very much silenced.

Sorry this so long. A couple shot of the roof in the backseat with sunroof. The is lower part way back to hold the sunroof but then rises back up above the rear seats leaving what I would think is equivalent headroom to non-sunroof trucks.

As for roof rack noise, the OEM rack was pretty noisy but I swapped to the Sherpa which is better. Again I find the whole vehicle noisy so it doesn’t bother me, I knew this wasn’t a luxury sedan.

It does but the sunroof operates normally. I currently have a crossbar spaced so that the pop up function is impacted but I only slide the sunroof back so no impact for me. The crossbars are adjustable so you can space them to allow full pop up operation.

Factory rack is more of a half rack but it’s not very aerodynamic so the noise was noticeable. And in my opinion it’s not particularly attractive either. Here is a pic with the factory rack.
