TPMS system malfunction - WTF? (1 Viewer)

I went for a brief ride today and suddenly, I get a warning message on my center display which turned out to be "Tire pressure Warning System malfunction - contact your dealer". The tire info display showed "--" for all 5 tires. A visual check showed all tires looked fine. Anybody else have this issue? I now have 629 miles on the odo. I am going to see if it appears on my OBD scanner. I'll be bringing it in to the dealer soon if it doesn't reset.

I tried using the OBD scanner but no error codes turned up on tires or anything else. I noticed on pg 492 of the Owners Manual a procedure for registering a new set of TPMs. I selected and followed the instructions and after a short drive, the error was gone and all 5 tire pressures were displayed as normal.

I think if any of the 5 TMPS dont work, the system throws a light and you cant read the pressures. its really annoying because I took off the spare.

You may be on to something. I balanced my tires as denoted on a different thread and hadn't returned the spare to my OT from the basement so it was probably out of range. I find it hard to believe that Lexus would program the TPMS such that the failure of one sensor would take down the whole system. How would you know what sensor had the problem?

Most brands' TPMS systems work this way. In fact, most brands use the same TPMS technology from either TRW Automotive and Pacific Industrial Corp.

And here’s another ridiculous error just received today. Apparently the system decided an extra 2 psi on my spare needs to be checked and adjusted immediately! Experience not amazing, just stupid.

I rotated tires and reset it. And after a couple of weeks and still tell me to drive to re calculate since most of my drive are 10 miles or less. Finally had a chance to go on about a 60 miles drive and it updated during that drive.

I added a few pounds to my spare and it cleared.

Just happened to me this week as we had a sudden drop in temp. Added a few psi and it cleared right up.
