After almost 4 months of ownership I used it for the first time this morning... (I'm not in traffic often) and wow, I love it.

It almost never activates. Needs the perfect storm on being on an approved highway and travelling below 30ish kph.

Cool when it works but it almost never triggers.

How does Traffic Jam Assist differ in function from the Adaptive Cruise Control?

I currently use Adaptive Cruise Control for both city and highway driving.

I also got to use it just recently in a jam. I noticed the heads up display show a different image (up down arrow or car) and I carefully hit the adaptive cruise button and it worked. I was quite impressed. That said, not sure exactly how to repeat. If someone uses this regularly, maybe fill us who don't get in jams as often in. Can we just turn on adaptive cruise at any stop light or tourist traffic jam on Rt 1?

I live in the midst of the nearly 20M others in LA area. Traffic Jam assist is fantastic. Unfortunately I get plenty of chances for it to activate on the 405. For my feedback to Lexus I said ‘raise the cutoff to 40mph from 25mph’.

I'm curious about this too... following.

Basically, when I notice I am in very slow traffic - stop and go type of traffic - as long as you are moving just hit
the adaptive cruise start button and it takes over. The screen will then say Traffic Jam Assist.

When traffic starts to break loose and the car in front of you accelerates above 25mph or so and gains distance - the system will yell at
you to take over the controls. Failure to head this warning and I assume you will coast to a stop in the middle of drivetime
traffic.

Huge help, thank you!

It’s geolocked to Lexus pre approved multi lane highways where you are travelling slow enough and following a car in front of you to trigger.

To my knowledge there is no list of highways available.

I’ve had it work on 2 in town highways where I am. But traffic usually isn’t slow enough for it to trigger.

I searched for a weekend to find a list of highways that TJA works on, but had no luck. It seems like several brands are using the same 3rd party road data - which is why there is a subscription fee for TJA. I also think that the road list changes as the 3rd party expands its dataset.

it works well where I live and I really like it when I’m in bumper-to-bumper reality.

Having said that it unless Lexus is willing to publish specifics on where it can/does work they will only get subscription renewals from those that already know it works where they live.

If I was buying a used GX in 2028 I would subscribe without knowing it had utility where I live.
