First some content. I Have owned my GX since May and it has been a joy to drive. I have zero complaints for the engineered features that most people complain about. Yes it drives like a truck. Yes the roof rack makes "wind Noise", yes it has poor MPG. Yes the suspension is happy at times. IT was engineered as such and I knew what I bought so zero complaints.
Now the problem. When the temperature outside hit 26 deg F. The car began making a horrible noise that felt like coming from the roof and or the back. As if the roof rack was getting ripped apart. IT only happened between 40 and 50 mph. Delearship reviewed and said it was turbulance in the rack. No fix. I want to clarify that this was not "air" noise. Best way to describe is as if the wheel was tearing a fender and or if a muffler was being ripped apart. Not normal. The second issue was at 6 deg F. Yes, it gets cold where I live. The car began making a Bushing / Binding noise from the front suspension at low speed while turning. pulling into a parking spot etc. also when breaking as the weight of the truck shifted forward. After my last trip to the shop, it was declared that air turbulence caused the rack noise , and that ICE buildup caused the bushing noise. So to say that this is disappointing is an understatement. Lexus Quality? Cmon. I have lived in cold weather my whole life and owned Subarus that were essentially trouble free and loved to be thrown around in the snow. Those things lived for cold weather. So for me, Having a "truck" basically act like a primadonna in this weather is unacceptable.
Has anyone else had Rattle/Excessive noise (metal noise not wind) and Bushings noise on their GXs? What did you find?
Any insight is appreciated.
