Hello everyone - just picked up a 2026 Overtrail plus in Atomic Silver with Onyx and blk interior. The vehicle has been at the PPF installer for the past week. Like many of you I like the “Tuxedo” look on these vehicles.

Installer is having difficulty doing gloss black PPF on the A and D pillar trim pieces. “Not sticking well”…

My thought is to replace those trim pieces with stock gloss black - but don’t know where to find them or the specific part numbers. Does anyone know the part number for these pieces (front / rear / right and left) in Gloss Black.

Thanks for any tips.

Just picked it up from PPF guy at Esoteric up here in SLO - he did a super job. Now that I see it completed the atomic silver accent actually doesn’t look half bad..

Will likely just leave it as is.. 🤔

It’s an OT plus - so roof came that way.. (gloss black) I just blacked out the A&D pillars and had B & C covered with clear PPF.

But I will say if you aren’t taking the vehicle crawling- makes MUCH more sense if you admire the aesthetics of black roof and pillars to purchase a Premium or Luxury (with the extra seats and panoramic roof) and then just do black PPF (saving many thousands in the process). ☺️👍🏽

It’s growing on me … but I think all black may still look better

Grey to Gloss Black - swapping the upper molding trip on A pillar and D pillar to parts from another trim.

So as it turns out these pieces are different for the different GX trims. AND some models come with gloss black trim pieces.

I took a chance and ordered what I believe to be gloss black trim pieces to replace the two tone grey ones. If anyone is looking to purchase grey - I’m happy to sell mine.

Will post if it was the right move..

Good point. My incognito premium plus came with OEM gloss black trims.

Update: got the “gloss black” trim pieces to replace the “grey rough surfaced” pieces that were not amenable to a clean PPF application.

They were exactly as expected. Will update them in a month or two.

I find that the grey on the sides look adds a slightly distinguished flare.. kinda like George Clooney in a tux.. 🤔

And for $131 delivered buying the gloss black replacement parts for 4 pieces from lexuspartsnow.com was a MUCH wiser move than sanding, painting and clear coating the originals - and cool part is I retain the originals to swap at any time. If anyone is looking to buy these gloss black trim pieces for your GX 550 - see the part numbers in the above pics - it will save you all kinds of kind searching through the interweb 😉..

The color of the trim pieces on the OT and OT plus versions that come with an Onyx black roof are in a “two tone” color scheme. This means whether you buy Mica green, Incognito, Earth, Caviar or Atomic Silver - all of them will have a grey “contrasting” one inch wide trim piece at the top of the A and D pillar. The none “two tone” versions of all of the other GX 550 configurations (I believe) come in either a matte or gloss (piano) black color.

The A and D pillars in the OT and OT plus with Onyx roof are otherwise body color, unless owners like me and others in this forum choose to have aftermarket gloss black vinyl or gloss black PPF applied. I was specifically informed that PPF over vinyl was more robust, and thus a better way to go. My installer at Esoteric in SLO area warranties their colored PPF for 12 years.

The contrast is fine. I think going through all the hoops of getting that small piece to match gloss black is over doing it, personally speaking

My wife agrees with you 100%.., I asked her opinion this morning.. her response: “it doesn’t make a difference .. ” and proceeded to enumerate 4 more things i needed to get done at home .. 😅

At 57 Im still learning what not to ask.
