California GX550 owners club

I’m jumping the gun here, but I would like to get a California owners club going. Maybe a staff member can help me create a new category for this based on region? I would like to see this community come into existence in real life with meetups, events, and other social gatherings. I think this would be cool for the owners to have this pool of knowledge and friendship extended to real life. I for sure would love to hit the trails with other GX owners. I know there’s other entities that host events such as I’m proposing but to have something stem from this website would be nice. Thank you!

Count me in as well - specifically for the Overtrail models, I would love to meet and learn how to wheel these rigs safely which is something other owner's clubs do. Using these on trails is challenging enough without knowing how all the 4x4 capabilities work (Premium and Luxury models have locking differentials as well).

What tint percentage did you use for the front to match the rear?

What tint percentage did you use for the front to match the rear?

It looks much darker here than the numbers make it sound since it's overcast (plus the car is dark) but according to the shop:

• 15% front windows
• 35% rear windows (they darkened them down slightly)
• 50% front (heat rejection mainly)

We used the same values in our previous GX and it didn't look as dark - I think I prefer it slightly lighter - but it's good from the inside even at night.

I think for the front windows, if we went 35% and didn't touch the rears they would match pretty closely (but don't quote me!)

Our previous GX with 15% front / 35% rear:

It's pretty new so I need to take more pics! I think we need a proper "Tint" thread, I'll find some time and post better pics of the tint values there (it's been overcast the last 5-6 days so every pic has been darker than it looks when it's sunny).

Thanks @YellowLab - we had it done at a local shop here on the westside of LA; it's 3M Crystalline which blocks heat and IR as well as light.

Happy to DM the name of the shop if you happen to be in LA + the cost for all 8 windows (they did the front windshield and rear pop-up, front passenger and driver, rear passengers, and the windows in the back for the non-existent 3rd row!)
