Getting prepped for a Cali - Colorado trek with NoNameX next month - I’ve been poking around online for off-roading essentials.

Curious if there are useful adjuncts that others on the forum may have found especially useful over the years for over-landing / off-roading far from home.

The new cargo metal Molle system should arrive in the coming week.

Prescribing to the “two is one, one is none,” Tac Med philosophy, I just ordered a new 2nd kinetic rescue rope. ($60 for a descent rope looked like something to snatch up.)

Feel free to post any useful gadgets or practical overlanding hacks…

Part of me is shouting “keep it simple Sherlock!!! “….. but curious to see what others have found useful …

I don't overland with my GX, but I did do some long distance adventure touring on my motorcycle some years ago and I love my 2 gallon rotopax water jug. Nowadays, I bring it to every track day because it fits behind the driver's seat of my camaro and holds enough water for the whole day, if I'm not sweating too bad. NOTE that people will steal your rotopax shit, so make sure you either get a locking one or store it inside your car overnight. I had my rotopax handle stolen off my motorcycle in Moab about 10 feet from my tent and had to strap down my jugs for the remaining 4000 miles of my trip.

I never had to use it, but when I used to ride to remote places, I also liked bringing a tube of this type of metal epoxy putty in case I punched a hole in my crankcase hitting a rock or something and I needed to limp it back to civilization: SteelStik Epoxy Putty Stick

This was a little ways back when satellite communicators kinda sucked and I was scrounging pennies, though. These days if I'm going to a super remote place, I'll just reactivate my Garmin Inreach as safety mitigation.
