Hello Everyone,

I'm planning a trip to the Arctic Ocean via the Dempster Highway in late September 2027. I know it is more than a year out but this type of expedition requires advance planning. Destinations include Banff, Jasper, Whitehorse, Haines Junction, Dawson City, Inuvik, and Tuktoyaktuk. Looking to catch the fall colors at Moraine Lake and Jasper. Hoping for northern lights at Whitehorse and beyond.

I'm opting to take the Alaska (Alcan) Highway (97) rather than the Cassiar Highway (37) for lodging and premium fuel purposes. The latter doesn't offer too many camping opportunities in the offseason and premium fuel is hard to come by in this remote region.

My OT+ buildout is almost complete so it should be ready for the trip. Dissent front bumper, Powerbrake, and re-valving of King shocks should be completed in two weeks. Only thing left after this is the LRA fuel tank which I'm hoping by the end of 2026.

Let me know if anyone is interested in tagging along for this ride.

Thanks.

Jack

That will definitely be an epic trip. We've been considering doing a drive from ID up through Canada to Alaska, but not sure if we'll end up doing that or just fly in to AK due to the amount of time it would add onto the trip. One thing to maybe consider in addition to the LRA aux tank if there's a lack of premium fuel options is to get the VF Tune and run the 87 tune that supposedly keeps roughly stock power but allows the use of lower octane.

Thanks for the suggestion as this is something I will need to do. There isn't reliable premium fuel available beyond Whitehorse so I'll have to use 87 Octane for a good portion of the journey in the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

How is the LRA saddle tank working for you? I think I will get the saddle tank as opposed to the rear tank since it will balance the vehicle a bit better. LRA is planning to announce a new tank at Overland Expo and I'm hoping it will be the one for the GX.
