So I was a little hesitant about installing the OEM door protection panels but I didn’t want my car dinged up by other careless cars when they opened their doors. So I went for it and am super happy with them. I have never seen them installed on any other GX 550. I must be the first because when I bought them from the dealer, the instructions said to ask the dealer to get the instructions directly from Lexus/ Toyota because they won’t give them to the customer directly. When they called them “instructions weren’t available because there were none”. So I complained directly to Lexus customer service and after a month they created a set of instructions so I was the first to get them. It was a bit of a headache because they have to be placed in a very specific orientation on the door to look aesthetically correct. Also I had to wet sand the area where the panels were to be stuck on because I had already ceramic coated my car. But it was worth it because everyone who has seen the panels on the car think they look great!

They look great. Looks like it would be difficult to align and get them even.
That’s why I needed instructions. Directions are very specific in mm. And you will notice that the door is not square so it has to be done at a certain angle. I aligned them with strong nonpermanent double stick tape and made small adjustments visually and outlined them with duct tape. Removed the panels and wet sanded the areas then carefully placed the panels back on with the permanent double stick tape that came with the panels.

I did a little extra too. I had the panels PPF’d so if someone bangs it with a door the paint on the panel won’t chip either. Gotta keep the beautiful GX looking good!

They look really great - lots of alignment work. Stepping back though, you should have gone a few steps further from your Nori Green with the rails to this; genuine imitation faux wood would have added so much. A missed opportunity in my view...

A Nori Green with bronze Method wheels and faux wood paneling would actually probably be pretty freakin' cool. Any computer image wizards on this forum? I'm limited to old school Microsoft Paint.

Is the front driver panel a little short on the door? It looks like there is a few inches of gap or is this so the door opens without catching the body of the car?
