Today after some online dabbling, I placed a deposit for a Scout Traveler, an electric / generator augmented 4x4. Not with any intent of selling my GX 550, but rather as a stablemate.

Curious if there are other GX 550 owners who also own any of the newer electric 4x4’s. I know some of our cadre and dabbled with the R1S and R1T - but reviews sound mixed.

In my case, I’ve had a reservation on an R2 for the last year or so. Added to that list, when the buzz began of a new Lexus electric SUV, was the new Lexus TZ. And most recently, a measly $100 bought me a reservation for the 2027/2028 Scout Traveler.

Frankly, out of these three vehicles, the one that is really captured my interest above the other two, is the new scout. 4WD, 12 inches of ground clearance, riding on 35’s, rock rails, a rear mounted 35 inch spare, 7000lb towing capacity, a 500 mile range, and many “standard” goodies for around $60,000.

Will see which of these will replace my aging 2014 Ford Explorer

What color ?? Is that even a question- silver of course. 😉

i have my $100 refundable in place for the all-electric Traveller. I decided why not see what the actually deliver and it gave me a standard BS-ing topic with my off-roading/motorcycling friends.

Funny thing is my better-half joined me at one of the Scout in-person events and and decided she may want it as an all-electric replacement for her 5th GEN RX350h (which she is quite happy with).

If they deliver what they say (and as we saw in the prototypes) and it’s $60K it would be a compelling vehicle to consider.

She wants it in their sparkle-Orange.

2028 will either have one or have my $100 back.
