I’m glad I bought it. I looked hard at the Land Rover Defender, but am sure the 550 will be far more reliable. I just put on Bridgestone Bizzaks for a month long ski trip starting in Telluride, but now the ski patrol is on strike a there’s not much snow out west, so I’m postponing the trip. Searchers 4WD in French Settlement, LA is going to install the Westcot preload collars, new 17” wheels and 35” tires. Right now I’m leaning toward the Method 703’s and the Toyo Open Country’s. I’m going to add front and rear bumpers and maybe a rooftop tent later. The Blizzaks will stay on the Lexus wheels.
Issues that I have:
-The front brakes squeal. The dealer is going to check to see if it qualifies for the fix.
-The fuel door does not stay open and the cap lanyard falls off. There should be some tension on the fuel door when open.
-Why can’t the vehicle stay in my choice of drive mode on restart. This seems like a software fix that Lexus could make and I can’t think of any safety concerns.
-After having the Blizzaks installed, I thought I should have the vehicle relearn the position of the wheels, in case the tire shop didn’t put them back in the same position. Now I’m stuck in the relearning mode after repeated attempts to complete the process. The vehicle says the new tire pressure has been set, but it isn’t displaying the pressure.
-Finally, I was surprised to discover that there isn’t seat position memory.
I’ll post pictures after the modifications.
