My name is Craig. Live in NE Florida Btw Jacksonville and St Augustine.

For a job, I'm a COO at a software company. I'm approaching retirement and my wife and I have grand plans to spend a lot of time travelling.
We're pretty seasoned travellers. We've been to 25-ish countries and 48 states. I expect that to be 50 states in the next 12 months.
We bought our GX after some serious thought. initially we planned for a truck and RV trailer but after some analysis decided spending the money on a lot of Airbnb's was a better investment.
So we wanted a comfortable vehicle and one that could support plenty of day trips on moderate trails, BDR, TAT and the like. We have OnXOffroad and have used it already.
We're planning a trip to Deadhorse next summer so I'll be posting looking for advice on roof baskets, spare tires and other like items.

Also an avid cyclist, a car guy and I play around with a BMW GS from time to time.

Are you referring to Deadhorse, AK or Deadhorse State Park in Moab, UT? If you're referring to the Dalton Highway then I would recommend getting new tires right before the trip. If you have the OT or OT+ then the same size AT tires should suffice. Keep the OEM spare just in case you need it, which I don't think you will.

Sounds like we have a few things in common.. cars, 4x4’s and motorcycles… which GS?

Put SLO (California) on your travel map as one of your stops, and DM me in advance and if we are in town will host you and your wife for a meal and talk about your travels ..
