PPF and Ceramic. Has anyone else done this and how's it going? (2 Viewers)

I had my detail shop wrap my entire '25 GX550 OT+ in Xpel Ultimate Fusion PPF (which is what I also had my '24 Land Cruiser First Edition wrapped in) and I have been extremely satisfied. The Ultimate Fusion product is PPF that's infused with ceramic coating from the factory, so you don't have to apply ceramic coating in a separate step after installing your PPF.

This product has held up extremely well in terms of protecting my paint from impacts, and it has made maintenance and upkeep of the exterior extremely easy. I would highly recommend this product for people who are considering PPF + ceramic coating.

I have the Xpel windshield protection on 2 x GX's, one has a small divot where a rock hit it, I am certain without it there would be a chip or crack. No issue with scratches, looks like brand new. Just take care of it, don't turn on your wipers if the windshield is dry and dirty. I use this once a month https://www.xpel.com/shop/xpel-wpf-restore-2-oz?variant=45434 I have also used Plexus, seems fine as well but it's expensive.
I followed your and others lead 6gun.
I just had my windshield exterior protected 2 days ago. Embarrassingly I didn’t quite catch the name of the product they put on..šŸ™„. They also applied a ceramic coat over that..to help the wiper blades glide better and improve water shedding.
I drove home in the dark just afterwards and was surprised at how well I could see. It seems as if it has eliminated glare, like an overall improvement.

They want me to routinely keep it clean with a ceramic or detailing spray, and microfiber towels. And of course minimize use of the wipers.

They stated I might be able to get from 1-2 yrs out of it. I thought it worth the gamble vs. a cracked windshield, supply chain unknowns, and in my case an overnight trip to the dealer. I prefer OEM windshields and dealer installation.

While there I had the entire rooftop PPF’d in preparation for a roof rack install later this month. 😊

Is it not on your receipt? Always call and ask. Ceramic on top is always a good idea.

Depends on if you plan on keeping the car for a while or not. < 3 years I would not bother. I was thinking about doing it but glad I didn’t waste 1500$ as I just kept car for 18 months. But if I were to keep > 3 years it might be a good insurance policy. Especially the ppf

Right. I’m planning to keep long term, popped engine or not. So for me the PPF seems okay, especially when I’ve seen how thin the paint is on my GX, with a door scratch (Incognito color).

I do believe they’re spreading out recalls for 24’s and likely 25’s. They may have fixed the ā€˜manufacturing shavings’ issue by, say, mid 2024. However, there does seem to be other underlying, engineering shortcomings.

I’m a bit surprised I haven’t had a recall yet (a 10/2024 placard date).
They can see my mileage, and that I’ve towed in hot weather. So who knows. I’ll have to check and see if I disabled my telematics some how; is that even possible?

Seems they’re running an algorithm to determine risk, and to create batch recalls.
