Roof Rack Rail Delete

I thought Id share what I've learned about our GX roof rails, racks, etc. All three versions of the GX have the same roof design. The premium and luxury versions have flush roof rails and overtrail has raised rails. The Toyota LC 1958 version has no roof rails. I was able to order parts from the Toyota to remove my overtrail rails and make it flush.

On the overtrail version you just remove the rails, install 6 new brackets, 12 new bolts and 6 trim caps. You use the existing rubber trim pieces as is. On the premium and luxury versions you would have to also buy the rubber pieces that go in the middle of the roof channel between the mounting brackets.

The photos below are the best I have at this time. I also included a screenshot of the parts needed to do this.

On a side note, I also installed 1" spidertrax wheel spacers which you can see in the photos below. It makes the stock overtrail wheels just about flush with the fenders.

You need the parts I listed along with the 2 pieces of rubber trim on each side between the mounting points. I don’t have the part number for those but they are just rubber pieces that sit in the roof channel. Let me know if you are going this route, I have the parts available to delete the rails.

Thanks for getting back to me! I think I’m leaning towards this option—I’m not too happy about the flush rails, and felt that the OT rails better. But I’m not sure I want to spend extra on the OT rails.

I thought I saw a post about someone wanting to trade their OT rails for the premium/luxury ones, but I can’t seem to find it now.

What parts do you have?

Hi @klemmy (or anyone who may have done this), I'm hoping you can confirm something for me. I'm adding a Peak 4x4 short roof rack to my Prem+ and I want to make certain I order the correct rubber trim pieces to avoid returns and restocking fees to Lexus. I believe you indicated above that I would need 2x Part #4 (75557-60080) and 2x Part #3 (75555-60050) in the diagram at the top of this page, is that correct? I think they are held in place by the rack mounts, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm!

I’ve heard the Land Cruiser roof rails are identical to the Overtrail roof rails… is that correct? Completely swappable? Thx.
