Roof Top Bike Racks

Has anyone used any roof mounted bike racks on their GX? I've historically always used hitch mounted, but I don't want to leave it on full-time and I don't have a great place to store the hitch rack when not in use.

I'm curious to know what the overall height is with rooftop bike racks from anyone who has one, would love pics as well, thanks!

In my experience rooftop racks just aren’t a great solution for SUVs. It’s a PITA to get them up on a roof rack, and they are ridiculously far up there from both clearance and aerodynamic perspectives.

How many bikes are you carrying? 1-Up has the best options out there as far as I’m concerned.

True points. Usually just one. I have a Kuat which holds two that I left on the back of my previous car full time. But my other car was shorter in length and didn’t have sensors that would go off all the time with a rack attached. I’m in a shared garage so would rather not leave it on all the time bc the extra length will surely annoy the neighbors that have to maneuver around the car. Plus the hitch isn’t the easiest to get to for constant removal and installation.

Way too tall. Hard to load bikes. And you'll inevitably forget it's up there when you go under a low bridge.

If it's just for a single bike, get a single 1UP hitch rack. Hardly takes up any space, installs/removes in 1 minute.
