I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I found a GX allocation near Philadelphia. I'd like to have the car shipped from the dealer to my house in an enclosed trailer. The dealer quoted me $2,200 with the transport company they recommend, but I still pay the transport company directly and contract directly with them thus the dealership isn't going to take ownership of the situation. I noticed online there are a ton of transport brokers and they all seem to quote you a price and post your job for drivers to accept. I have gotten quotes from $1,100 to $6,000+. None of this is giving me the warm and fuzzies.... Any advice on transport that is most cost effective and that will let me sleep well at night? Should I just eat the $2,200 from who the dealership refers me to? Thanks

I would take the dealers referral. They are probably recommending a group they used before and trust. I have a friend that is on this forum that shipped a car from New York to Austin. It was a GX 550 Luxury and she had no problems. there are a ton of shippers out there and a ton of pricing alternatives. The price you were given sounds reasonable.

No disrespect but why not just fly there for a few hundred bucks and break it in on the drive home?
I did the fly and drive for my pick up, but had the privilege of staying off highways. 1,500+ miles, presumably on interstates isn't the break in procedure I'd be looking for. One of the few break in guidelines in the owners manual is
  • Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.
I got similar advice from the guys who built my race car engines, and they had no reason to make it up.

I ended up finding this car in Lexington so we are going to fly and drive. It’s about 900 miles. I think we will stop in Nashville and Memphis for a few days with the kids.

One thing for sure - driving from PA to TX you won't be driving at constant speed! Traffic sh*tshows all along the way... :ROFLMAO:

Not suggesting he drive all highway/cruise control etc. Saying for less money why not make a road trip out of it
