I had a Redarc brake controller on my Gen 5 4Runner and setting the braking gain was seamless With an empty 3800# trailer I would set gain (Value 4-5) just below lock up and performance with loaded trailer was fine. If I wanted to, I could have easily caused lock up on full trailer at a gain value of 7-8,. On my 2025 OT I'm pulling the same trailer. When I first started towing with my GX last summer I had to set gain at 8-9 to get a lockup on an empty trailer. Running with loaded trailer still required a setting of at least 7. I had the brakes checked by the local RV center last month and all was reported to be fine. Today I was pulling the trailer (empty) and had to set gain at 10 to get lock up. I will obviously be heading back to the RV shop to get the brakes checked (again) but was wondering if anyone else out there is having to run high gain values on their trailer brake controllers. I did blast the connections with electronic cleaner but nothing changed.
