Hello all - new to the forum as my wife got a 2025 Premium+ back in September. I live in a northern climate (PA) and was wondering about any experience with undercoating using a wax/oil based undercoating (Woolwax, Krown, Fluidfilm...etc). These vehicles seem to be relatively corrosion resistant, but I am sure after a couple of years, it was start showing some rust underneath. If I do get it done, I planned to have it done professionally with all the cavities drilled and sprayed in addition to the underside, then I will follow up myself every year or two with an application.

However, I do have concerns going this route, the first being whether it voids the warranty if they were to drill holes and plug the doors...etc?. Secondly, given that we will be sticking to the maintenance through the dealership at least through the warranty period so we can take advantage of the free oil changes and inspection (in PA we have a state inspection which is free at the dealer), I wonder how much it will impede them from properly maintaining the truck by gunking up the underside.

Looking for some thoughts or suggestions. Thanks!

Not a fan of the heavy gunk as it creates a mess when you need to touch anything on the underside. I used a Cosmoline spray in clear and it's looks nice, protects for a few years and can be self applied with rattle cans. Cosmoline Direct is the company I ordered from. Safe on the wire connectors as well. They offer a black, but on a clean new surface the translucent is nice. Photo show black which I used on my older 80 series. There are a few other threads on the forum with this and others feedback as well.

The coating itself usually isn’t a warranty problem, but drilling holes can create gray areas, so many people avoid that and use factory access points. Dealers in northern states are used to Fluid Film–type coatings and it typically doesn’t interfere with service. The GX resists rust fairly well but PA winters will still cause surface rust over time, so an annual underside treatment is a safe approach while

I had lanolin based fluid film applied to my truck and trailer frame at the beach in Texas, but it did not last long. I have self-applied Cosmoline black, as in the post above. Unfortunately, on the GX I got a drop in the corner of my right eye, and now have permanent floaters. At least now I have a good excuse for missing all those pheasants this fall.

Sorry to hear, it is toxic stuff. I had a make on and glasses, but still need to be very aware. That said accidents happen. I'm sure a pheasant or two are indebted to you.
