The factory one doesn’t project anything, it’s just a regular old light. I’d ask the dealer to replace yours with the factory light if you don’t like it.
Also adding that I took the rail off the passenger side and reinstalled it and the noise has been gone since then. I’m keeping fingers crossed to make sure, but seems promising. This is after taking the interior trim panels off and adding felt tape to the plastic bits where the headliner meets...
Thanks! Do the new bolts come with that sealant on them already or is there a pace I can buy that? I worried about using loctite because I want to be able to remove the rail again in the future to potentially install a first edition roof rack.
I had to remove my overtrail roof rail on my passenger side, when taking out the six bolts from the factory I noticed there was a little bit of red on the bolt threads. The bolts weren't hard to remove, so I don't think it was thread locker. I put everything back the same way and torqued them...
Install is very easy, it’s 6 bolts. I didn’t have ramps, and it was a little tight to do it flat on the ground so I went to an off-road shop that had a lift and only charged a minor labor charge to do it. If I had a way to lift it a bit on my own it’s definitely a DIY job.
