I saw someone added rear air to their GX for leveling and towing support but there wasn’t a ton of info out there so thought I'd share a bit more with our experience with the install.
For starters we ordered:
and
Everything is designed for the Tundra. The brackets need a little modification to fit flush with the frame but fabrication was not too bad. Just need to cut off one of the sides and put the weld on the other side for rigidity. We did some additional grinding to make it sit perfectly flush but probably not necessary. Test fit everything then painted to protect from rust. The instructions that come with the bags and compressor are pretty detailed and straight forward so I won’t go into too much detail but after we got the mounts to sit flush it was the same steps to install them on a Tundra.
A few points of info we ran into that might be GX specific:
1) The rear abs brake lines need to be slightly adjusted to make the bottom mount sit flush on the axle. They don’t need to be relocated just bending the metal brackets was enough
2) For whatever reason the passenger side upper mount is close to the inner tire (driver side is over 2 inches clearance at full droop). We think the Tundra must have a bigger axel or a slightly different frame. We grinded a bit more on the passenger side to give some more clearance but I also have 275/70/18 tires on stock Overtrail+ wheels. Stock size tires this won’t be an issue at all and it’s only close when at full droop, when car is on the ground there is more than 6 inches of clearance.
3) There is more space to mount the compressor on the driver side but I chose to put it on the passenger side because I am holding out hope for an aux fuel tank to go on the driver side.
