Hello everyone,

I recently got my GX 550 tuned with the VF tuner 93 OTS v3 tune. My issue is I was already running AFe intakes and inlet pipes.
The extra airflow is most likely what is causing my misfire/check engine light because the VF tune is designed for a stock car.

I already reached out to their support but figured I would give the forum a shot if anyone had the same scenario and found a custom tuning solution.

thanks!

I am getting it upon full throttle at high rpm in 2/3/4 gear. Do you also have the turbo inlet pipes?

no inlet pipes for me, but to be honest, I'm not often at full throttle but the few times I have tried, no errors

Having a larger intake and inlet pipes just "allows" for more air to flow in. How much air gets sucked in is going to be determined by the ECU and what boost pressure it wants the turbo to hit. Bigger intake just means you can run at higher boost over stock depending on the ECU tune.

So your misfires are likely being caused by something else.

I don’t have the VF tune or intakes but I have the pipes and AFE Tune and I get a misfire code quite a bit

Check this regarding the turbo inlet. The cel is probably too much air through the crank case at WOT

See whether you can contact Michael Cain, lead tech support specialist@AFE, for the aluminum fitting that goes into their inlet.

You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off

Do you have an email for this guy? I got the inlets, but they came with the plastic fittings. I want to swap them for the aluminum ones before I install them.

i tried to do that before i installed but they gave me the run around.. i showed them my CEL and code and they finally sent the pieces

5/8 inch brass. I tried it, but it pulls out easier than the vinyl ones that came with the kit.

is there a chance any of the RTV will break off and get sucked into the engine?

Really sucks that they won't reply and package these with the proper parts. Will see if VF Tuner's inlet solution (guessing from Magnuson) will be a better solution.

I thought an additional problem with the original ones was that they are too short and caused a CEL.
