In my old Lexus, I used the aux port to connect to a portable DAC, which was then connected to my iPhone for music. The sound quality improved tremendously in the stock ML system. Not hi end audiophile grade, but definitely good enough to be low tier hi fi. I'm wondering if anyone here has done something similar (with or without a DAC), but using the USB Type-C port? If yes, how did you like the sound quality? I'm basically looking for cost effective solutions to increase the sound quality of the GX ML audio system before I dip into aftermarket alternatives.
On page 31 of the Multimedia Owner's Manual, it states that iPod and USB audio cannot be used while Apple CarPlay is connected. And I assume vice versa. Question for the techies here: if a phone call comes in, will the ML audio system mute the USB audio? I haven't seen anything in the owner's manual (but it's possible I may have missed it or forgotten about it).
