Hey guys,
Bambeds started making their platforms with a new waterproof, non-slip hex lined birch. I didn’t love the raw birch color in the cabin, but this new material is black and I think looks little better. It helps keep things from sliding around in the back.

Also, i found a thread on Tacomaworld where Bambeds started a group buy 2 weeks ago... 20% off for the first 10 buyers of any product if they post photos in the thread. I needed a sleeping platform so hoping I can get a discount I picked one up and posted photos in that thread. He says if he gets 10 buyers and photos, he’ll refund 20% to everyone. If anyone buys one please post in that thread so we can get some money back. Here is the thread at Tacomaworld.com

Walmart sells a Sterlite underbed bin that has lids that hinges in the middle (so it can be opened without pulling the entire bin out) and it fits nicely under the platform.

Let us know what you think. There are a ton of complaints on these that while great at the start, the wood ends up warping horribly.

So far mine hasn’t warped yet. I’ve had it for several months now.

I have the less expensive birch version, and applied some inexpensive, adhesive, light grey carpet squares to the top surface for protection and to help silence any rattling.
I have not painted, stained or treated the remaining surfaces.

On our last offroad trip I placed the Lexus cargo mat on top of the BamBed to capture mud and grit, and to keep all my cargo from sliding around. That worked well for me, and also made it easier to slide other miscellaneous cargo in and out from underneath the shelf.
I’m happy with the basic, improved storage it’s provided thus far.
