All,

Bought a standard 3 inch drop 2" ball receiver from H.D. today and noticed quite a bit of slop in the sideways movement..

Has anybody already spent alot of time going through 2" receivers and has anybody found one that doesn't have any play horizontally in the hitch? The one from HD just had too much movement.. I tried it out without a trailer attached and just that made me take it immediately out and wonder how ridiculously loud and trashy it would sound pull with that receiver haha..

I need one that fits better in there without a shim.....

Also.. Public service announcement... Don't buy this pin on Amazon... super common, but the side unscrews rendering it useless..

This one or any one like it:

I realize you probably need more drop than the Lexus OEM ball mount but it fits like a glove with very little movement and is rated for 10K lbs. Best ball mount I've owned and I've had a bunch for different vehicles with varying drops. I tried to delete the ball mount option from my build and in this case I'm happy they didn't accommodate the request, along with all requests. ;)

hmm... I wish I would have gotten an option to specify a mount option.. i guess Lux+ didn't get that. Now I have to try and find something that fits better.. Maybe I look for the factory option but I bet its stupid expensive. LOL

Yeah it was $80. It couldn't hurt to post a Wanted request in the Marketplace Forum. There are probably a lot of people who got the OEM ball mount in their build who either don't tow or have their own specific setup.

The part # is PT228-60246 and is the same for Toyota and Lexus. Seeing them for around $60-$65 online, not sure about shipping cost.

Just get a hitch anti-rattle device. They work great. Keep the wrench in your vehicle in case you need to remove it or tighten it.

I have a B&W drop hitch, but mine also came with the Lexus ball mount so I figured I might as well get some use out of it so I ordered the Lexus 2" ball since I use that size the most (PN: PT79100844) but haven't installed it yet. Anybody know the torque off the top of their head? Guessing it's going to be more than I can do with what I have on hand (250 ft. pounds?) so I might take it to a trailer place and have them do it.

Depends on the shank. Your 250 ft-lb torque wrench should be fine for a 2" ball if it's the 1" shank diameter, but right at the max.

Cary.... i got with my salesman at Lex Dealer and he hooked it up for free.. I'll just get a 2" ball now for my setup.

Question: Mind you I haven't tried it yet, there is the pin and cotter pin and the receiver and a circular 3/4' in length spacer... any idea if the spacer goes over the threads on the ball when i get it? Purpose?

Good deal! I have no idea what that spacer is for. It does look to be the same thickness as the tongue itself, so maybe it does go over the threads of a thinner tow ball, if that exists(?). The tow ball I got fit the hole exactly so I didn't use it.

I should have said insert! ha .. looks like its the insert for mounting a 1" ball shank in the receiver as i measured it ~ 1" with my Caliper.. So now we know... the stock Lexus receiver measure 1.2 -1.3" w/o the insert... (caliper mesurement - in.)

I bought a “Curt” which has a 4” drop, or turn it over for a 2” rise, it fits nice and snug, no wiggling around. Bought it from a local trailer company.
