Considering the purchase of a new GX550 but have some concerns some may be valid and other may not; that is what we are trying to determine.

My wife has been driving the same 2018 RX350 since it was new and it only has 67,000 miles on it. We are planning to give it to my daughter within the next 12 months. My wife originally wanted to replace it with a Porsche Cayenne and we did go drive a few of them. While we liked the car, we do not like the $750 oil changes and Porches overall bad record when it comes to reliability. I asked her to go drive a new RX, TX, and GX and after we were done, we both liked the GX the best.

Trying to decide if we can stomach the "truck" like aspects of the GX before taking one home.

It definitely will not ride like an RX or Cayenne or any other sedan based crossover. Not even close particularly if you get the 22 inch wheels. The suspension is designed to do great things off-road. Having said that, my wife and I just got home from a nice trip with 6 hours total on the road. My wife commented on how smooth the ride is. So it’s really just perspective. The GX is smooth in its own way and the engine, transmission and steering are fantastic.

I thought "we" wanted a Luxury+, however we may back that down to a Premium+ in order to get the smaller wheels for more comfort sake. Do you experience any of the other quirks with your GX? 60-65 mph buzz? hood vibrating at higher speed? Vibrating rear gate?

Late 24 (October Build) Premium+, we just turned 15k and actually heading to the local Toyota dealer today for oil and filter, Lexus is 2 hours+ one way for us, Toyota is about 20 minutes. So far we haven't had any issues with the GX other than brake squeal which was fixed under TSB. We came out of a Genesis GV80, which is a crossover. Loved the Genesis, but hated the dealership routine, and getting service involved literally an overnight stay in hotel due to distance and traffic. Have never looked back! We've taken the GX on several lengthy road trips and have averaged about 20 MPG on each. The ride, while a little more truck like, is fine, we have no complaints. The only change we are contemplating is switching to 18" rims when we are due for new shoes.

Does the Cayenne suffer from reliability issues? As far as I know, Porsche normally ranks at the top for reliability among similar brands. Also, a good independent shop will change the oil for far less.
