HNY GXers!

I just completed a 13-hour road trip (covering just over 1k miles) in my 2024 OT+. I discovered that at some point along my trip (somewhere in the 3-6 hour mark) that the cooler box began blowing warm air into the box. I had a few cans of soda and some yogurt cups in there and they were all warm. Not hot, but imagine 80 degree warm air circulating in the box instead of the the chilled air. Upon discovering this I turned off the cooler box for the remainder of my trip. Subsequent shorter trips a few days later (no longer than 1 hour of driving) the cooler box remained cold, and appeared to work as it should.

The ambient temp outside the vehicle during the road trip never went above 60 degree F, but got as low as 30 degrees - and I kept the cabin thermostat around 71 degrees F at most.

I have 17k on the odometer and was due for the 15k mi service. I brought it into Lexus and the advisor had the master tech investigate. No abnormalities were found via inspection. They even performed a dedicated cooler box coolant flush and found no faults or reason to replace the cooler box. Basically told to watch it and report back if it happens again.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.

Also, I averaged 18.4 mpg for the duration of the 1k miles (99% highway with 2 passengers) - wish the mpg would have been better!

Coolant flush? I was expecting this cooler to be peltier based.

Nope. It is tied into the HVAC system, which makes deleting it just about a non-starter.
The refrigerant lines run to the floor down the back of the center console. I haven't pulled it apart yet to check if the lines can be disconnected, but then I'd imagine there would be an incorrect amount of refrigerant in the system.

I would like to delete the cool box. It's not big enough for any drink I would want to keep in it.

I'm not actually sure how the cool box will work when it's too cold to run the AC compressor. In the winter, I more or less only use it as an insulated container - not as an actual cool box.

Next time I take a long drive, I can try it and see if I also get warm air.

Please keep me posted on your next long drive!
