Hi All, I am about a week into my new 2025 Luxury +. I really like it but am surprised at the engine noise / sound when you hit the accelerator. Aside from the Drive Mode (it is marginally better in Comfort than Sport), is there a setting that can be changed? Thank you!

I need to find it, but I believe it is labeled “ESE” [engine sound enhancement] in the technology. It pipes in artificial engine sound to enhance the driver experience.

Not trying to derail but since this is an option the dealer has to turn off, is anyone aware of any other options to turn on/off?

Example:
Auto up/down windows
Seat belt chime

I know that my 4Runner had these options that needed to be toggled by the dealership.

You have a custom setting in drive mode. Set everything in sport. It'll drive like sport+ without the fakery.

I just had mine into the dealer yesterday and asked to have the fake noise turned off. They said if they turn it off it would disable the ESD. Enhanced sound deadening. They said it would not deaden other noise like wind so it might drive louder. I said turn it off.
I don't notice any difference and the engine noise is still the same. I can live with that. It's not that bad. It only makes noise under heavy acceleration. Now the hood flutter......that's another question.

In addition to the dealer for ESE, Carista will turn off the engine ESE, seat belt chimes and a few additional settings. I bought Carista OBD/1 year subscription as a Black Friday special. You can buy a shorter term app license and just cancel as soon as you are done. The changed vehicle settings are persistent.

I knew the dealer would turn off the ESE. I expected they would not disable the chimes so I proceeded with Carista.

Thanks. They said it was the same setting. I'll check with them. That said now my traffic assist won't work. Shows it's toggled on but doesn't work anymore. This is my 5th GX and so far regarding problems it's the worst.

Comment - Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) shows up in the Carista feature set. I’ve toggled it on/off and noticed no difference in back-to-back drives.

I find no mention of ANC for any trim of GX550 spec sheet or web page.

Anyone know for sure if ANC is on perhaps Luxury+?

I’m not affiliated with Carista. Here is the web page with the features the app will tailor.
